The starting wage is 17.50, with the average being much higher (upwards of 20-25-30)

I like how "going against the grain" has become treating your workers well and making an enjoyable shopping experience

Wow, a company that figured out how to be cool while making money. Nice

Their workers actually act as if they want to be there, which is refreshing.

Costco priorities their employees as well, where as Walmart exploits em

Yep and as a single mom this is how my kid and I used to eat out on Friday nights, we'd shop for groceries for the week, then I'd treat us to Costco hotdogs.

The employees make more per hour and stay longer because the CEO takes a reasonable salary and reinvests the rest into building the business. This is the business model I used to teach economics classes.

They also take care of their customers and stand by their products. As opposed to the customer service desk at Walmart is often like The Maury Show.

I don't shop at Costco however I do appreciate its business model over its rivals... I.e. Walmart... And clearly its customers don't mind paying the membership fee to gain access to whatever they have in huge quantities...

That 1.50 $ combo buys the customers’ hearts. Just like those rotisserie chickens.

I love how Costco’s business models is that they are cheap, fair, and well paying. Although I hate memberships, Costco is a membership ill always have under my belt

I love Costco. And yes it's because the employees are not stressed out and angry all the time like Walmart.

They do spend on a miniscule bit of advertising but it’s not TV/video/publication. It’s mostly sending monthly sale brochures to existing members, and occasionally putting up an offer website for new member signups including a freebie (which is then organically reposted everywhere by people).

Costco's policies are so amazing, I worked there for 4 years but sometimes the managers are garbage and since there are so many people working at the warehouse, it created a high school culture in a bad way with tons of drama, even if you don't care for it, you get pulled in.

Your telling me they took the “convenience fee” and turned it into a membership essentially… I love it

If I lived in the US the fact that Costco pais relatively good and has healthcare for employees would be a reason for me to only shop there.
