When I first read this book I was disappointed. It had been hyped up so much that it fell far short of my expectations. That was about ten years ago, before I spent a significant amount of time unemployed and trying to figure things out.

I think On The Road is like a coming of age book for grown men. It speaks to that period in life when you're clearly not a boy anymore. You know you should have things figured out but either can't or you can but you're not happy with it.
