One thing I've been wondering about is what happens if you detonate a bomb or nuke in space. On earth the heat and blast wave cause most of the damage. In space there is no air to blast. So if you had a thermal shield could you stand next to a nuke or bomb in space?

They just make stuff up, run math equations that look good on paper, and then when something happens that fits what they made up they go "aha! See! we knew it!".
