The death of “The Wire” actor Lance Reddick has prompted an outpouring of tributes from his family, friends and even players of the video game “Destiny.” Reddick voiced commander Zavala in the popular game.

We really loved him, and have a much deeper connection with him through his character AND his public love of that game. For many he was a great part of people’s daily relief from stress, and some who were experiencing grief. The day before he died they say he was playing it.

The public display was beautiful if you play the actual video. There were many and well organized tributes.

The only celebrity passing that had really had any impact on me aside from Norm Macdonald and Leonard Nimoy. I don't create attachments to celebrities easily, and they're something i've always felt unattached to, but after watching Fringe, the John Wick series, the Wire, playing Destiny 2, his departure left me sad in a way I wouldn't expect for someone I had never met.
