Kate's Corner: What is a Microburst?

On Monday, July 4th, a thunderstorm tore through portions of southern Harrison and Lewis county leaving behind intense damage that caused many to believe a tornado was the cause.

The National Weather Service office in Charleston sent a storm survey team out Tuesday and determined that it was not a tornado but a microburst. Just what is a microburst?

Although the general public probably does not want to know all the details of a macro or microburst, this lacks a lot. Well meaning but the lack of information makes it wrong.
