Missed opportunity not calling this, "You're Wrong About Being Wrong".

Petition to title the series where Dr Cimmerian paraphrases and explains SCPs as "Cimmerian Summaries"

It is okay to be wrong and it is also okay to admit “I don’t know.”

Too many people just can’t stand to be wrong and instead of overthinking their view when confronted with evidence, they go to unbelievable lengths to pretend that they are still right somehow.

Exactly.

There are times when you absolutely have to be right, like when you are yeeting humans to space with rockets.

Not neccesarily when arguing about if a freaking immortal fictional lizard from a multiverse where there is no cannon story, is the child of some blood god.

Might be good to rename it "You're wrong about x (and that's ok)"

GREAT video. I know these kinds of struggles can be really demoralizing but keep trying to apply that mentality to all of it. Some bs and setbacks are bound to happen but accepting that gives you the strength to fight back and get where you want to be. Best wishes.

(I didn't think you gave off that vibe or anything like it btw, I was just joking. I appreciate you addressing it though. This is a large issue. It's like people can't accept multiple different versions can simultaneously be true.)

I never mind being corrected and have no problem being corrected either. What I do have a problem with is when someone takes things overboard with correcting people. There is no reason to just sit there and bash and insult on someone for being wrong about something. Failure and incorrectness is meant to be a learning experience to help better people.

I feel like if you do start the your wrong series(which I kinda hope you do) then you can just make it clear that being wrong about stuff is ok, as long as you admit it, and diffuse the problem a bit.

As someone who's done logic stuff, I've learned that unless you can find a contradiction, many different things can be simultaneously true. Not sure how aware people are of this but it is worth noting that a lot of people take this as an all-or-nothing thing and that's certainly wrong. What I like about the "You're wrong" series is that it's mostly videos addressing misconception rather than people just being wrong. I do believe that the notion of being wrong is taken with shame by people and that it's a culture-wide problem. It's sad that this fear probably fuels misinformation since people who are afraid of being wrong or afraid of not being informed are more likely to be wrong or misinformed.

First off, I’m grateful for the humility you expressed in making this type of video (& for your Overall policy of addressing & correcting any mistakes you make).

Regarding the “You’re Wrong About” series: I’ll admit that it’s been a while since I last saw one, but I definitely remember feeling that I enjoyed the fact that those videos not only Broadened my awareness of various tidbits (eg that 999’s alternate origin as a Scarlet King child was actually a reference to a preexisting take about the Daevites, or that MTFs shouldn’t just be paramilitary groups), but they also helped allay some of my concerns about the wiki itself (eg misconceptions about what’s required or standard for submitting an article).

For future “You’re Wrong About” videos, I’d like to see a continuation of this type of analysis/deconstruction, eg:
-historical explanations (such as how 173 actually began on Reddit, SPCs and all).
-applying realistic expectations to SCP logistics (eg monthly D-class “disposal”, or the amount of effort needed to maintain the masquerade).
-obscure interpretations of various SCPs (which might make more sense or just more entertainment for various viewers).
-incorrect assumptions about popular interpretations of SCPs (such as 110-Montauk “actually” being a bedtime story, when it was supposed to show the moral extremes the Foundation is willing to go thru for its mission).
-mythbusting misconceptions about the wiki standards, the tone/style needed for writing articles, or other “setting the atmosphere” devices (eg does every SCP need an exploration log?).
-common mistakes ppl make when writing, why ppl r still making those mistakes despite their being problematic (eg incorrect assumptions about writing standards), and what ppl can do as an alternative.
-out-of-wiki “community” issues, eg the legal battles, the motivation/controversies behind LGBTSCP, copyright/licensing, taking criticism, plagiarism vs inspiration, etc.

As you said, the motivation behind these videos shouldn’t be about “haha, this guy’s idea is wrong; let’s demean him for it!”, but instead about “this is a different idea from what you/I am used to; I may not like it, but some of you might; and some of you might come up with Better ideas inspired by this”, or even just “hey, I didn’t know that before; I learned something new today!”, but especially “I thought this was correct; I realize there could be a better way to do it; I’m now going to try something differently than I’ve done before/so far.”

Keep it up! I look forward to hearing more from you!

The self awareness goes a long way, but the "wrong" videos I have seen as more of breaking down an idea more than just saying "You are an idiot and here is why." I think the memes are more towards the Youtube persona side of it.

I'm just waiting for someone to write in SCP where Dr Samarian gets an effect where everything he says is true even when previously it is not say the grass is blue the effect makes all grass on planet Earth blue and everyone believes it's always been blue the only person not affected is Dr Samarian
