alright.
May 3rd, 1999, Moore Oklahoma. Peaked wind gusts of over 300 mph. But some say the 2013 El Reno tornado had peaked winds of 336 mph. Crazy.

Well there are several tornado candidates. May 3rd, 1999 Bridge Creek/Moore tornado had the highest measured wind speed. The Mulhall tornado that happened later that same evening North of OKC may have been even stronger and perhaps 3 miles wide, but there’s not as much data on it. Also, the Tri-State Tornado in 1925 caused a huge loss of life and destruction of property with an over 200 mile track. The Jarrell, Texas tornado caused the most thorough destruction, wiping foundations clean and leaving only mud behind with pulverized debris. The August 27, 2011 Philadelphia, Mississippi tornado caused incredible ground scarring over a foot deep. The Hackleburg/Phil Campbell tornado was also very powerful, peeling up asphalt and having an over 100 mile track. The 2011 El Reno tornado that blew over and filled a 1, 900, 000 lb oil rig and picked up and threw a 20, 000 lb tanker truck a mile. So it depends on the criteria I suppose.
