Thank you for this genuine explanation. I am getting a Bryant 2.5 ton 16 Seer condenser and 3 tons fan coil for $7200 including labor. With inflation so high do you think it's a decent price?

I’m at the end stage of acquiring bids to replace my HVAC system. The offer and person I like the best suggests this system:

York 95% Furnace 100K
Aprilair 700 humidifier
New thermostat and wiring

York 13 seer 3 ton A/C (condenser)
Cased AC coil with TXV
New line set
New disconnect

My house is in Missouri, and not well insulated. Replacing a 93% furnace 20 years old and a 10 seer Trane AC that’s 34 years old. 1000 SQFT upper and 1000 SQFT lower, mostly below ground.

The installer said the effective seer rating would be 13.9. Does this sound like a good system?

I have 25 SEER mini splits installed and I've seen some go up to 30 SEER.

Super informative!!! Pairing the SEER with what the furnace can do is so important. How old of a furnace would you say is the limit to install a new AC onto it?

Aren’t the evap coils essentially the same tho? Greater efficiency coming from the compressor, motors, on time profile and increased condenser coil surface area ??

Trying to find the right central air or ductless ac system if almost as difficult as finding a car to buy. So many brands. Some known and some unknown who when you ask around, or search. There is nothing on the internet but a distributor company that provides many brands.

Do you not like inverter compressors on mini splits either? Or just central ac units?

What if you live in Yuma, AZ where you have your AC running from March to November and a normal outside temp from June to September is 100°+?
I live in a 1986 1, 000 sf double wide about to replace a 2.5 ton 12 seer, thinking of going with a 3 ton 16 seer. Manufactured home has original insulation and is 2×4 construction. Also going to replace the windows soon and upgrade to double pane. Would it be worth it to go with an 18 seer in your opinion?

I bought a new Bryant 14 seer . I have it set at 73.it stays off. My house doesn’t get super cold. I had a trane 13 a seer and my house was super cold.is there a reason why the Bryant 14 seer is not cold like the trane. The Bryant is brand new. I’m not happy 😭😭😭

Any additional information you can provide on things to know between these models and what we should avoid? Looking to replace our current HVAC system which includes a Lennox Whisper Heat gas furnace and a 10 seer 2.5 ton Lennox AC unit. We are hung up on getting a single stage or upgrade to the 2 stage AC if it will be more efficient. We are in upper Midwest area for climate and our house is just under 1500 SQ FT built in 1979. Windows are 10 years old and we just replaced all patio doors and entry doors 2 years ago. I know for a fact we need more insulation in the attic. Thx

AC units:

3 TON AMANA 2 STAGE 16 SEER AIR CONDITIONING SPLIT SYSTEM
MODEL # ASXC180361

AMANA 2.5 TON16 SEER AIR CONDITIONING SPLIT SYSTEM
MODEL # ASX160311

Furnaces:

AMANA 60, 000 BTU 2 STAGE VARIABLE SPEED ECM FURNACE
MODEL # AMVC960603BN

AMANA 96% EFFICIANT 60K BTU, 2STAGE, ECM X-13 MOTOR
MODEL #AMEC960603BN

Do you have experience with the AVXC20? It supposedly goes to 24.5 SEER. This is one that we are looking at in Southern Michigan. 2700sqft home.
