The B-29-100-BW Superfortess, which was later converted into an F-13 recon aircraft (F standing for photo), does exist at Lake Mead. The final flight of #45-21847 completed an altitude run of 30, 000 feet. They descended the aircraft to 300 feet above Lake Mead. Because the sun was reflected off of the surface of the lake, the pilot had a hard time seeing the surface of the lake, and the plane slowly descended to 100 feet until it hit the lake at 250 mph. The plane then bounced back up to 250 feet, and then skidded across the water. The crew bailed from the aircraft using life rafts, and watched as the plane sunk to the bottom of the lake.

They ended up feeling underdeveloped. I think Sawyer had a much bigger vision for the Boomers but got rushed by deadlines.

I was in shock and awe in the 2nd battle for Hoover Dam when I saw a bomber plane - a working plane in fallout -it was awesome

But they do grow on you. Especially Mother Pearl. They remind me so much of Arroyo from Fallout 2 minus the Chosen One.

Oxhorn, you should really include Mr. New Vegas' news broadcasts that concern these quests. The headlines about "Come Fly With Me" and raising the bomber are particularly funny.
