I think the idea that his masters collapse ruined his career is ridiculous. Considering he won the open the next year....
He career stalled out because his swing isn't that good and his putter calmed down. And there's SOOOO much talent on tour to compete against

Golf is one of the toughest games to stay on top.

He was overcoming bad shots by making great recovery shots and long putts. He started hitting even more bad shots. The recovery shots were not as good. The long putts did not go in as often. He was incredibly fortunate to overcome a lot of self created adversity in his wins. He is not overcoming it as well. Hitting it in nasty catches up with everyone no matter how good they are.

Jordan has an unorthodox swing with the little chicken wing. He also wasn’t the longest off the tee. I think he has tried to change his swing to his detriment. Not to mention he has a lot of commitments which interfere with his swing change. Just my opinion, of course.

I have watched maybe 3 games of golf in my life. I can name maybe a half dozen players. Yet, here I am binging your videos as I work. Great content and story telling brother.

Jordan was the short game king at one point. Then he got his family and it looks like golf isn’t his main priority. Same thing with Rickie. I respect it. Young bucks are ready to see what else is going on with life.

I ask myself that question a lot. He could have been such a huge force in golf.

He may win another Major, but I do not think he will get a Career Grand Slam. Only all-time greats do that, and he is nowhere near that now. He has already missed 6 cuts (including Scottish Open) in 2024 and has dropped from 15th OWGR in the beginning of 2024 to 36th OWGR now. We all know he will never have another season close to 2015 but I wonder if he will ever win more than 2 or 3 more PGA tournaments the rest of his career.

Golf is very difficult to maintain superhero status. The margins for error are extremely small and highly punitive. Golf is this way because, unlike team sports, it exposes the individual. Team sports allow for larger margins of error because other team members can often take up slack for an underperformer. Therefore, the Yankees can be the best team in Baseball for 70 years. Or, the Patriots can be the best NFL team for 10 years, etc. Not so in golf. You own your mistakes alone. Those of us who play golf competitively at an amateur level have a saying when things go bad on the course: "Cuz Golf". What happened to Spieth? Golf happened to Spieth. Just like it did to Jason Dufner, Anthony Kim, Adam Scott, Hunter Mahan, Jimmy Walker, Dustin Johnson, Boo Weekly, Aaron Baddeley, Victor Dubuisson. All amazing players. But, golf is not a destination, its a hard journey on a very narrow road full of hazards and troubles and ever changing spot lights. Staying at the top is impossible. Jack Nicklaus, Sam Snead, Davis Love III, Art Wall are rarities in golf history who had longevity to win so late in life. Maybe Phil Mickelson too. Tiger is arguably the best golfer who ever lived (along with Nicklaus). He's only 48 and will likely never win again (probably). Only 50 golfers in PGA history have 17 or more wins in their career, and only 23 of those have ever played for more than 20 years.

Jordan Spieth will be in the Golf Hall of Fame. His collapse in the 2017 Masters has happened to many great players, see Jon Rahm in this years Olympic golf final, Rory McIlroy in this years US Open, Arnold Palmer and Ben Hogan in US Open finals. What is not mentioned is Jordan Spieth has had a disease twice that often destroys athletes careers. That disease is mononucleosis. Jordan first came down with this as a junior in 2008, then again in December, 2017. I believe Mono for the second time caused Jordan's decline as a PGA touring pro. It can be a devastating disease, ending the careers of many athletes. Robin Soderling, a Swedish tennis pro, is one of the few players to beat Rafa Nadal at the French Open. That Fall Robin came down with Mono which ended his tennis career. There are viral and bacterial infections that can be devastating to the central nervous system and ruin athletes careers. At least Jordan has been able to continue as a golf pro, and hopefully, for many more years.

Good video, problem is Jordan continued to play great golf until 2017 - 3 wins including the Open - and was in fact #1 in scoring that year. He changed his swing soon after because he got outdriven massively by DJ in a playoff late that year. It then took him 4 seasons before winning again. That's a long time to go winless and it has taken a toll on his confidence. The only good thing is he is longer and straighter with driver now, but the rest of his game has been inconsistent.

Many thanks for this. I was so excited by him when he flirted with the 2015 Grand Slam and I've been wondering about what happened ever since. It's very sad. Perhaps, like so many others, he's afraid of how good he could be.

His driving this year has been amazing. His irons are off, bit I think its because of his tendon issue. His putting has been average. PS Last year everyone was claiming JT is done, and this year has been a 180. So lets wait till next year...
