I would like to point out for anyone who hasn't noticed it. Traits are essentially abilities. They just require multiple button combinations to activate opposed to just. Because if you think about how these characters are fighting with just three abilities and then you think about doing the same thing in dragon age Inquisition you would realize that a lot of the things they're doing that is just them using basic combat would count as a lot of abilities in that game. Like a bubble shield for a mage is not a basic thing you can do in dragon age Inquisition origins or two. That by itself would be an entire ability. The mage being able to turn their projectiles into a beam attack would also be an entire ability. The same thing with being able to explode that bubble shield to knock back enemies and deal damage would be another ability. But everything I just named is just basic mage attacks and defenses and one trait.

So basically how I see it is a lot of the abilities are now built into the character classes as basic move sets. And then they add in extra abilities as basic move sets with the traits. But I don't think the traits add afflictions. That's what I think the trade-off might be. I might be wrong about that, but every trait that I've seen doesn't have an affliction that it can apply like weekend or sundered.

Super early example is at the 32 second Mark where they have a trait that gives you exploding arrows as a part of your basic attack set, but exploding arrows would be an ability in the other dragon age games.

I loved the more aggressive playstyle of the Knight Enchanter in Inquisition, because I love a good glass cannon build. Defo would be more interesting to play the Spellblade with the increased mobility options

I'm usually all in on mage, but the warrior looks soo sick, I think I'm gonna go that route.

I can't see the last 2 Reaper skills because of the recommended video pop-ups... 😡

Kinda bummed that Reaper is so Shield Throw focused, I was hoping to be a two-handed Reaper

You're currently my absolute favorite for doing this ❤ Would love to see every passive/trait node but I suppose that wouldn't have left you much time for the rest of your preview xD

So we've got:
Antivan Crows: Duelist, Spellblade
Lords of Fortune: Saboteur, Slayer
Veil Jumpers: Veil Ranger
Shadow Dragons: Evoker
Mourn Watch: Death Caller, Reaper
Grey Wardens: Champion
Makes me think we'll get a DLC With a second Specialization for Veil Jumpers, Shadow Dragons and Grey Wardens or potentially 3 Specializations for each faction, though that seems excessive.

Pilfer sounds hilarious " I just stabbed you and give me your fucking potion! " Mugging a enemy is gangster AF.

Ohhh! They brought back lightning flask! So I can make a explosives alchemist build now? That's so cool!

Edit: if I can get all the flask skills like the fire and ice I'd get that maybe make a saboteur that specializes I poison arrow while throwing explosive flask and traps

Huge Dragon Age fan since origins. Can't wait for Veilguard. Can you unequip your sword so you only run around with a shield?

So you get 3 abilities you can use from the menu and 1 ultimate, but then you have traits that are mapped to sorta combos/button presses which takes the abilites up a few? Is that right? Im still not 100% sold on it, I mean having such a huge skill tree just to set 3 in the menu to use is a bit shite still.

How often in games do you get to use scythe as a weapon.
Reaper might sound good.

For the first time in all of the Dragon Age games, my go to class will be the Warrior (Reaper.)

Kinda hurts, that there is no fire mage or in general elemental mage specialization.
The only option you really have for ranged is to go for ice, unless you want to ignore specializations...

The character creator in this game is bit like Baldur’s Gate 3 or Dragon’s Dogma 2’s character creation, but it has its own unique style with the hairstyles, tattoos and the faction options.

As for the gameplay, it kind reminds me of God of War Ragnarok in terms of weapon swapping, level design and combat and a mixture of Tales of Arise and Final Fantasy 16 in terms of exploration.
