Cherry Pineapple Dump Cake

Do you want an easy to make cake? If you can turn on the oven and use a can opener, you can prepare this cake. This cake is made with a boxed cake mix, cherry pie filling, crushed pineapple, nuts, and melted butter.

I made this a couple weeks ago with my granddaughter. I used a can of Strawberry pie filling, and a can of pineapple. Also used a Strawberry flavored cake mix. I don't melt my butter, I use two sticks cut into slices, and put the slices of butter all over on top. This is so good, and yes, use any flavor that you want. And you don't need to mix two differant flavors, use two cans of whatever you want. Don't think there is anyway you can make a mistake with this.

I love this cake. I have made this more times that I can remember. You can also use apple pie filling (2 cans). I also dont melt my better. I just cut it into little pieces over the top of the dry cake mix. Think I wiill make one this weekend. Yummy..

I haven't tried strawberries, if you can find them canned they may be worth a try, I think blueberries would work.

Been making it for years, great dinner party have made up and in the ice box, pop in oven when you're ready to sit down to eat, then it's hot and ready for ice cream for your guest. I like my nuts on top of cake mix, under the butter so they are more toasted. It's wonderful with any fruit mix you personally like. I love apple/cherry myself.

This recipe has been around forever. I started making this back in 1972.  There were no nuts in it though and when putting the butter on top of the dry cake mix, you used 2 cubes and spread it completely over top of the dry mix so no mix was left uncovered. Leaving parts of it uncovered as shown here allows for chunks of dry powder in the finished cake.  The original recipe also called for a layer of flaked coconut to be added to the top of the butter.

I've made these, but I never melt the butter, I just slice it up into pieces and lay it on top. I put the pecan on top of that too Still, they're really gooood!
