Bench Vice Mounting

The old vise was moving due to pressure applied over the years causing the mounting holes in the wood to get larger. A steel plate is added to resolve the problem. If you have a router you could even sink the plate into the wood for a flush finish. The angle iron at the front adds even more strength.

Good Job! Great Idea! I would have welded the plated top and bottom, so that the seems don't become a reservoir for filings & oil...
