I was sexually abused by my coach when I was 16. They made me believe that I was the monster. I recently came forward to get them out of power - they don’t know what I’m made of. This song makes me realize how far I’ve come.

Anyone else notice this: " There's nothing left inside, since you ate my heart out " is one of her merch designs, the words " nothing left inside " is in the shape of a heart

Unpopular opinion: This song is good, actually, most Gabby's songs are good/decent. If only the Genius interview didn't happened and Gabby wasn't such a problematic person i'm sure many people would be a fan of her works.

Okay my interpretation of this is kind of dark. I feel like that little girl is her past self and she was trying to comfort her through her own past traumas but, then she turned into a monster from what happened to her and she wasn't able to stop herself even though she tried so hard to.

Omg, I am actually crying. I know she won't see my comment a second time but she has helped me through so much, these songs always come out at the right time when I am having the experience she had. It is crazy, I love her so much. Thank you for these songs so much <3!

This song really hits you in the core if you’ve ever dealt with emotional abuse from your parents. You grow up afraid to speak your mind or even move because you’re always waiting for the next outburst and for it to be your fault. Then you grow up and lash out at others and before you know it you’re comparing a lot of your behaviors to the same things you experienced growing up. You lash out as a defense when you feel like you’ve lost control and you push others out because you don’t want to let anyone in. You’re so afraid of being put through what you experienced as a child that you wind up putting others through the same. And how can you want to live with yourself when you remember how bad you wanted to die because of them? How can you live with yourself when you know you’re causing that same pain to those you love?

Might be reaching a bit but either way Gabbie I love this. You’ve grown so much and it seems like you’ve learned to deal with things in a much healthier way. We have to acknowledge our flaws before we can work on them. Thanks for the work you do. I hope to hear this on the radio (:

The part where she says "you're already gone", which I'm assuming is a run, is SO DAMN BEAUTIFUL. Apart from that, here's my full analysis of the song and video. SO, I think the girl is clearly a representation of her when she was younger, it can also be portrayed as innocence bc of the white teddy bear and curiosity bc at the beginning she's trying to look at this 'monster' and then gets scared and runs away, also as a connection to the house which gives her shelter/safety. I want to think the house is a relationship with someone in her family bc the little girl sort of lives there in a way, maybe her mom idk. Or it can be some type of trap or something alluring for when she meets people that later on hurt her. What's clear about the song is that she's this monster that scares people away, so once she goes to this house while chasing the girl I think she's struck by memories. She grabs the damaged bear and keeps seeing this younger version of herself (Gabbie's bear can signify how she's had to go and grow through a lot and the things that once helped her before as a kid, now seem to be counteractive in her adulthood), then later she burns it in a fire she lit herself which can mean she's leaving or letting go of something that happened in her past or to the person she was back then, but also causing this slight amount of damage by lighting the fire. THIS is where I have different theories about the meaning:
1. She spots the girl and runs after her, when the girl's laying on the bed and Gabbie's tucking her in, being real sweet and caring, I think this can mean her trying to take care of who she was before, so as to not let go of her past (which has shaped her into who she is now), then when the girl turns into a monster it's like her childhood or past experiences and the person she was before are doing more damage than good, so she runs away from it, like an endless cycle. If we go through the route of her mother ( and her being the house), which is "confirmed" later on in Monster (reborn), when she goes and cuts ties (again) with her childhood or past self, she's also distancing herself away from her mother (or family), however, when she first got to the house, it was already burnt, so this only proves further that cycle I mentioned before. Her standing there and looking at the house burning can be how she sees the damage done from a different perspective.
2. Because of the whole " I chase people away" thing, when she's met someone to whom she gets attached to and is overall extremely caring, nice and giving (the part were she's caressing her), they somehow betray her (when she looks at the blood stain from the eaten heart), so she retaliates (with how she expresses in her face the next line of the song. An example of this can be the storytime videos she's done about bad experiences with people in her life), BUT the little girl (that, in this version, can be how she first sees people to how she sees them after they've hurt her, like a monster) "fights" back and Gabbie gets scared and runs away ( which I can see in a real sense bc she's a sensitive person, so that's her running away bc she got hurt again). Once she runs, she tries to cut all ties by burning the whole house down, but, as in the first version, the house was already burnt, meaning that this situation of burning the house has happened before. And, again, seeing the damage done from a different perspective.
In Monster (Reborn) she starts with: "Am I my mother's daughter? Please, someone, prove me wrong." This may imply that Gabbie and her mother have something in common (maybe what she states in the next few lines) that she may not want.
"Addicted to disaster. Love only goes so far." She might be talking about her experiences with love and relationships (it can be different types of love) and how some or most haven't ended well. And once she starts something with someone new it ends the same.
"You don't know who I am. It changes with the moon. Give me time, I'll bring out the worst in you too." The person never gets to truly know who she is and the many facets she has to her personality. Because of this, and because some parts show more than others, she feels she's the reason why she is faced with the bad sides of the people she's had a relation to.
"No happy ever after. You're already gone" Eventually, whatever type of relationship she had with the person withers away and she's left with nothing and no happy ending.
In this part of the video, she looks like she was affected by the smoke of the fire, which can either be because:
1. The little girl, who was her younger self, was trapped in the house when it was set on fire, or
2. She went inside the house as she realized her mistake to save her past self, but couldn't.
So she's affected by the smoke and has her heart broken, she must be extremely sad about all that's happened (and I'm using the first possibility here) so sad that she feels the need to start over again. Go back to who she was before, move forward from there, and rewrite her wrongs. Still, I think there is hesitation in that because she tried to light the match two times before it finally worked when previously she lit the match on the first try like she was decided about what she wanted, but now she isn't so sure.

Somethings I don't know how to add to that long paragraph:
• The house is so so damaged it feels like she goes back there all the time but forgets or knows that it looks the way it does because of her. Like the whole story of going there, getting hurt, and then burning it is on constant replay and that's why she's right outside the house. Then she lights herself on fire and the scene resets. ("I would say you're wrong, but I've been here before").
• Most things in the house are old and worn out which can relate to the connection she has with whomever.
• The house is a sign of shelter and protection but she chose to show us a house that was already damaged.
• Another clear thing is that she keeps looking and running desperately after the attention or acknowledgement of someone who she's chasing away.
• The variation between " *So what* if I'm the monster" as if saying who cares and "so what if *I'm* the monster" like she's the bad/wrong one in the equation. ("Maybe I'm the monster that's been all here along").
• In the bridge it feels like she's telling this person "don't worry, I won't do anything else, you've broken me completely".
• Maybe there's comfort in the sound of goodbyes because she's freed from the toxicity of it all and gets to start again?
• At the end (monster reborn) she might be regretful of what she's done (burning the house) but found that it was pertinent to do so.
• Also at the end, I feel like the lighting is on purpose bc she's choosing to do what she wants but she has a way out, she either didn't look for it or felt like she or it wasn't enough. Or maybe the lighting in that scene was very much needed at it has no significance at all.
• The slight smile before she lights herself on fire could be because she is happy that she gets to start over again.
• The moon, in the beginning, may represent her personality or when she's said before that how she experiences things with people is not how they experience it ( two different experiences ) and such. ("You don't know who I am. It changes with the moon").
• "Laying in the bed that I made all alone" like she's made a habit of going down that road again and again.
• "No need to run and hide. Underneath your cover now" She may be referring to the double-sided personality of the other person: 'there's no need to lie any more or keep up the facade'.

All of this is what I interpreted and got from the song and video, I'm not saying that what I've written is true or confirmed.
This is extremely long, so I thank you if you read it all.
And if you figure out something else that I didn't mention, please let me know!
