Why the Legion 9i Gen 9 is worth it!

The Lenovo Legion 9i is probably the best of the best 16" gaming laptop I've used this year. This Gen 9 9i packs the latest 14th-gen Intel Core i9 processor, the 14900HX, with the RTX 4090 (175W), 32GB of RAM, and 2TB of SSD. If you're looking for the ultimate desktop replacement laptop, this is something you should probably look into. Not only is it a rather thin laptop for a beast of a computer, this is also the best performing gaming laptop I've ever tried in this 16-inch laptop category. While it can be pricey, I think it's worth it. Now, let's take a look at what its pros and cons are and whether or not you should pick one up yourself.

I bought Legion because its one of the few gaming laptop that still has a numpad. Why do I prefer numpad? Because as an architect I work with AutoCad, Sketchup, etc... I needed to put numbers as fast as possible, so yeah for me numpad is a must. Well that's just me...

I love having a numpad tho, even if it means sacrificing other aspects. Great review, I'll keep an eye on this machine 👁

I don't think you mentioned the mediocre speakers. Other than that it really is a beast.

I agree on making putting track pad center but on 16inch laptop I expect a number pad. It's one of those luxury items that's really nice to have.

Nice, but I would not pay this sort of money for an Intel machine with their current QC issues. Easy pass. Thanks anyway.

If I buy GeForce Now Ultimate for 20 years, I still would not pay as much as for this laptop, which will be literally ancient at that time, while GeForce Now will offer up to date GPU whatever it may be in 20 years. So this is actually very bad purchase from the financial standpoint, only for modders, Star Citizen players and emulator lovers. But for that money? I’d rather not mod or play that infinitely under development space sim demo. And I love to play without feeling like I’m sitting right next to the Airbus engine on runway 😂

Beware of 13 and 14th gen Intel processors guys. Intel should recall them but they choose not to

Any keyboard must have a freakin numpad. It's a no brainer. So this Legion 9i is a banger!

Cool to see more laptops reviews on your channel! What is your favorite laptop this year so far?

Do you plan to review the Blade 16 OLED, too?

I had X16 R2, Asus G16, Blade 16 2024 OLED, Legion 9... and finally went for the Blade 16. I had too many latency and stuttering issues with the Legion 9. The Blade is simply better in almost every category, I just would have liked to see a less reflective screen while maintaining its gloss, similar to the G16's implementation.

X16 R2 was nice, but my units were faulty... after the second faulty unit, I didn't want it anymore.

G16 was probably the best portable laptop for me this year, I just think the 4090 could have got 20-25W more. I had to return it because the touchpad was rattling and it was bloody hot. I'll buy it again with AMD and maybe wait for the next iteration of the NVIDIA GPU.
