My name is David Pere, I am an active duty Marine, and have realized that service members and the working class use the phrase "I don't get paid enough" entirely too often. The reality is that most often our financial situation is self-inflicted. After having success with real estate investing, I started From Military to Millionaire to teach personal finance and real estate investing to service members and the working class. As a result, I have helped many of my readers increase their savings gap, and increase their chances of achieving financial freedom!

My grandfather stole a couple of gold bars from a German bank that was destroyed during WW2 and opened a business with the money he got for them when he returned. He never got caught and my father sold the business in the 1990s. We are all well today. Thank you grandpa.

I just retired this year at over 28 years as an 06 from the Navy. They paid both my wife and I while we were in medical school. We fulfilled our obligation in a few years and decided to stick around. She died on active duty not from her deployments but from a terminal brain tumor when she was at 21 years in. She was buried with full honors in Arlington National Cemetery. I am grateful for the military and many who supported both of us. God bless.

Already have. Bought real estate starting in 2011 in Hawaii and the rest is history. Millionaire by 31. Financially free at 33. I pulled out all of my TSP since real estate income already pays my living expenses 2-3 times over. 95%+ in real estate (active and passive) and cash. Getting out in a couple years :) Military has been great to me. Love the channel!

For the folks in the military that decide to drive long distances to work, definitely look into the Enterprise carpool program offered by the military. I have coworkers that have a 1.5 hour commute but they pay NOTHING in monthly vehicle expenses (including gas). It's all paid for by the Military & Enterprise car pool program.

Me and my brother are joining. Considering all your basic needs are met while you serve, we plan to save 500-1k a month each. On a 4 yr contract that's 98k on the high end 49k on the low.

Separated from the AF last year with $50k from my TSP. Currently making near double Contracting in Vegas. Heavily investing in multiple portfolios(indexes and ETFS), and doing my real estate through FundRise. Living modestly and staying away from a lifestyle increase

I bought my house with a VA no money down, seller 3% contribution. Paid full list price. 7 years ago. Saved $400 a month over Renting. My house went up $100, 000 in equity. An unused VA loan is a sin

Uber on the weekends. Making sure your buddies get to the bar and back while getting paid is a good feeling. I made about as much doing uber nights a week (friday+saturday) than I did as an E5 with 6 years in.

This right here is some great stuff. I'm about to be 19 and just swore in the Navy doing ITS on a 6-year contract. I came here to learn how to maximize my wealth by utilizing the great benefits the military has to offer. I have one question in particular for you. You stated in the video that you still obtain housing allowances in spite of owning the very property you live in. I've read and heard that BAH is only for those renting the properties they choose to reside in. Is there a workaround to maintain that BAH whilst living in the house you own? Thank you for the life-changing info. I can't wait to continue learning new things through your videos 🙏

Just finished BMT, I’m at tech school to become a Fire Dawg. First thing I did when I got here was set up that wonderful TSP! Thank you for setting me up for a successful financial future. Keep the videos coming!

Just a cautionary tale using VA loan. In 1998 as an E5 I bought a house for 27k I used my VA loan. I shouldn't have because the house was small I intended to use as a rental later and I did. I paid off the house in like 5yrs no prob. But later when I went to buy my big dream home the Funding fee for the VA loan was 3.3% of the mortgage. This would have made it more expensive for me to get the VA loan as about 10k would have just gone to a fee. I ended up getting a traditional mortgage at the same rate the VA was gonna give me and not having to finance an additional 10k in fees. But had to put more down. Had I just purchased the 27k house with a traditional loan then I could have used my VA loan to close on my big house and saved some cash. The number in the end sort of worked out for me bc of my credit score but just be aware of the increasing fee every time you try and use your VA loan after the first one.

AD Army here. I will be coming home from a rotational deployment in a couple of weeks. I have 10K in the bank and absolutely no idea what I want to do with it (besides buy a bicycle). But as far as funds I have no clue... Any content you have on a situation like mine I will appreciate!

I wasn’t aware that the TSP could be shown to a bank as cash reserves, that’s awesome. Do investment accounts count in full, or will the bank only acknowledge a percentage of it as cash reserves?

Wow just found your channel. I've been doing this research completely on my own and for some reason it's only 3 months in to this that I find you! Still learned a bit

I tried to attempt day trading. And like you mentioned. It isn't feasible long term. I'm not sure if real estate would work out for me personally. However I do plan on putting a lot of my money into longer term, high growth investments when I join in 2021. That way I don't have to pay taxes on it for quite a while.
