I am a Michigan boy now living near southern lakes in Tennessee. I never really mastered some of the trolling techniques while I was in the north and many don't utilize them to the same degree in the south. I would love to see some detailed videos about setting up trolling systems using in-line planer board, Dipsy Divers, etc. Very informative videos that are very helpful.

Thanks for the tips. I'm just starting out trolling these tactics and have a reel and rod setup and holders. But I don't have any planer boards and you answered alot of questions for me about brands. I also run a 30dx for lead. Great reel for the money. But I paired it with a 7 ft okuma classic trolling rod and it's not terrible. I can't speak to planer board usage but it's not bad on either mono or lead. Just strictly a budget rod just like the reel.

I fish on the flats on the St. Louis Bay near Duluth in the spring. My trolling set up is 8 foot spinning combos. I also use Church TX 12 planer boards. Very cheap and has worked very well so far.

I used to use yellow birds but they didn’t troll very well at slow speeds for crawler harnesses. But I’m thinking maybe the new design and the smaller versions with the tattle flags might work pretty well.

I use those Offshore boards when striper fishing....they are great....but expensive compared to what they used to be

Can you recommend a chart, etc when trolling with crawler harness and planer boards. Want to troll with crawler harness and planer board only. Is there a chart to go by for line out, speed etc. Also do I need inline weight when trolling with harness and board or can I do without. Thanks for your past help in the past.

Just looking at this Okuma Magda Pro reel today. Do you think the 15 is big enough or the 20. Just be fishing in the Detroit River and north channel. Love your channel. Have learned a lot

I'm about 90% sure the cabela's branded rod holders are made by scotty. At least the quick draw model. Have a couple of scotty and cabelas and I can't tell them apart except for the name plate. Unfortunately it looks like they are discontinued now.
