We’ve GOT to stop acting like it’s a crime for a song to be a ballad. If it wasn’t for songs like this, the contest would be nothing but a concert full of commercial disposable pop songs.

Ireland, you are my winner this year! A beautiful ethnic ballad with emotion and power! 🇮🇪 🏆

what a beautiful ballad. why hasn't Ireland sent something like this to the "adult" contest in recent years?

This is simply stunning
Great vocals, beautiful melody/instrumentation and charismatic singer.
If this doesn't do well in Yerevan, there is no justice.
Top 3 material for me.
Well done Sophie and good choice Ireland 🇮🇪
👏👏👏

I respect if Deban prefers other entries to this particular song, but yawning not even 10 seconds into the music video leads me to believe that perhaps he was going to have a somewhat negative reaction to the entry regardless of what it was.

In terms of this entry, I think its a very unique ballad compared to the rest and it has traditional instrumentation which not many entries have this year (not necessarily a bad thing for those songs but I do think people like hearing traditional elements in jesc and esc entries). I like how this song progresses as it has a softer sound in the beginning and gradually builds as the song progresses which is nice to hear. I'm interested in how this will be staged particularly the bridge leading to the final chorus and the final chorus itself because it feels like visual elements would really make that section in particular come to life but I dont exactly know how it'll be done, I really do hope its staged well. I personally have this song just outside my top 5 but I will say, my top 7 is very strong and they're all nearly as strong as each other in their own ways so even if its half way down my ranks I still think it's a quality entry which I really do hope will get a deserving placing. I really hope juries don't sort of leave us in the dust like they did in 2019. My hope is it'd be great to get the left hand side, idm where exactly. Its nice to see the positive reaction it has gotten online.

Also very much agree with some of the comments here, not every song needs to be an uptempo number, it's nice having a variety of sounds and I do feel like a lot of times ballads get a lot of schtick for being boring because they're slower.

Once you know the song is about mental health, the music video makes a ton of sense so it's actually really good. Dark horse to win next week for sureeee

you have to admit that this is a fairy-tale song you can hear the culture of Ireland, on the other hand, it's a pity that the Irish language is not promoted during Eurovision you can feel the Celtic atmosphere in this language

This is the kind of song where language isn't very important like in 'De diepte' by S10. This is my favourite.

Staging is going to be critical as I assume it will just be Sophie on her own on stage. I don't know what the background capabilities of the stage in Yerevan are like but I think it would help to try and recreate the feel of the video here as I think it suits the song. Keeping the visuals interesting for three minutes will be the challenge. Not sure if they could do the dress colour change at the key change though altough it would be spectacular if they could!! 🙂
If I have a criticism of the song structure is that I feel it ends almost too quickly after the key change which is why I think the lift in the song that the key change delivers doesn't have the impact it could have.
I do think Ireland is always underrated at JESC. To be honest if Sophie comes anywhere near the top of the leaderboard it will have been a great achievement for her.
