Показать описание
In this video, details are provided about the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS), the premier institution for shipping professionals worldwide.
The history, structure, education, qualifications and membership opportunities are explained for those who are thinking of having a career in the shipping industry. People already in the industry can also look at advancing their careers by getting one of the ICS's qualifications and eventually become a member.
The main qualification available is the Professional Qualifying Examination (PQE), where you have to pass seven subjects made up of four compulsory subjects and three specialist subjects chosen from a list of twelve. There are also Foundation Diploma and Advanced Diploma available. Exemptions can be granted, in maximum of 3 subjects, to those who already have maritime related qualifications. Granting of exemptions is however subject to meeting certain criteria.
There are 26 branches worldwide with the headquarters in London, United Kingdom. Every year, examinations are held in over 110 centres worldwide with about 5,000 candidates sitting the ICS examinations.
Membership of the ICS is given to those who have passed the required 7 subjects and fulfil the requirements of the ICS Controlling Council. There are several benefits to be enjoyed as a member of the institute, top of which is belonging to an internationally recognised network of shipping professionals who have proven knowledge, competence and understanding of the broad spectrum of the global shipping industry.
