This is the loosest wooden star on earth. Most are too tight for this.

This solution only works if you have very loose pieces. The correct solution is to hold 2 sets of 3 pieces and slide them together.

This is by far the clearest solution for the Luban Star puzzle, better than trying to push the 3 piece half’s together which fall apart when you try to join them together on other videos because you can recognize the geometry much better in this tutorial.

No, it works only at the time you begin to understand that the pieces are NOT all the same ! Then you have to try a solution, ican't remember exactly what but the fact is the pieces are all slightly different.
