Stihl ms170 vs ms250 vs ms291 chainsaw comparison review

Here is a short comparison of my Stihl chainsaw family. Comment what mode you have and why you choose Stihl over the other brands!

I worked my ms170 every evening for about a week until it was to dark to cut and it done perfect and I will use it for everything I can use it for

How much of a "performance mod" is having the chain on backwards on the 170 ?

I have the ms 170 and ms 290 which is an older farm boss with 56 cc and a 13 pound power head. Now I'm thinking about buying a ms 250. Mainly because it's got a 10.1 pound power head. It's also on sale.

Good video I got a Stihl 180 that I put a 14 inch bar on to do my light stuff and it is a cutting machine and I got a Stihl 290 Farm Boss Order saw with an 18 inch bar with a sharp chain it cuts like a dream then I got a big boy 661 Magnum it feels like a big block Chevy in your hand

I bought the MS 251 with 18” bar and the MS 291 with 18” bar together and contemplating the MS 180 with a 14” or 12” bar. Probably the 14” bar so I have a little more reach.

I’ll take a Stihl over Husqvarna anytime. Not because I think they’re better but because the dealer network is better. You can only get Stihl products at authorized dealers. Husqvarna sell at big box stores by people whom have no clue what they’re selling and worse can’t service them on sight.

271 can run a 20. I currently don't own one smaller than the 391, which I run a 20 on, but I've ran the 271 that I bought for my dad. I bought it with the 20, and it pulls it just fine. Also, they still make the ms250, but most people buy the 251.

Can I run a 12in 3/8 .043 bar on a 250?
