The only reason the girl in the intro was created was to have Pikachu run under her skirt?
Mystery solved.

That girl's scream sounded like a power drill.

Kinda makes sense. Ash wouldn't care what's under girls skirt, but he would catch pokemon if there were any.

Fun fact: The girl is actually a LASS (trainer class), which is calles "Miniskirt" in the japanese version. The youngster class is called "Shorts", so both the boys and girls are named for their iconic clothing.

Oh, and the japanese use "GET" as a verb, ie. Pikachu GET means "(I) got a Pikachu". Its the same with Super Mario Sunshine, where it says SHINE GET in the japanese version.

"Through earth, clouds, that girl's skirt,
It's very, very, very hard."

Um, what?

Isn't Japan's version of "Gotta Catch 'em All!" "Getto-daze!"?

Mew was under that girl's skirt the whole time...

I miss the days when the Pokemon intro's weren't 30 second clip shows but things that the dubbing companies actually cared about. Nowadays if the intro becomes outdated TPCi doesn't give a damn.

[In school]
"The girls dresscode says that you may only wear skirts or shorts that are at maximum a dollar bill [laid horizontally] above the knee"
[Japan]
"Minimum requirement is one foot from the knee"

I kinda like the Japanese one and how they reuse it because it would be so nostalgic and would really hype you up, also the rhythm is really good.

To be honest I personally love the 4kids intro but when I watch the japanese intro it feels more kid friendly and takes me back to the days of pokemon tcg on the gameboy.

Surprisingly I never saw the japanese intro as a kid so to have nostalgia with that too must show its a very well made intro.

Hey guys, I originally started this as being only about the girl in a skirt but then thought maybe I should look into the whole intro. Hopefully the first half doesn't seem a bit forced or anything! Oh and, as always, thanks for watching :P

Seriously, I want a 10 hour loop of that moment just because it's so funny

Hmm I've always thought the girl in the miniskirt is Giselle who appeared as a one-time character in an early episode, a random trainer from the Lass class or a girl representing "purity" because in the English opening, when she showed up, the lyrics says "a heart so true". I've watched and heard the Japanese opening before but since I don't understand a thing, I thought the scream thing just meant the girls are going crazy for Pokémon since it was so big at the time.

Idk why but when I hear the Japanese version of the intro song I am suddenly hit with so much nostalgia, even though I am not Japanese, I don't know Japanese and I always watched the translated version.

I legit though Pikachu was was screeching "KAAAH" at the skirt scene.

Japanese theme song was awesome. That's the one I grew up with and I can't even describe how ecstatic I still feel when I hear it.
