Got both, the UMX and this one. Live in west Cleveland. Fly the UMX down the street in a 3 baseball field park and have plenty of room. All 3 fields face each other with slightly overlapping outfields so its a pretty big space. I glued cut down micro zip ties to my wing tips to cut down on rash (mimicking the 1.5 tip) and "tied" the gear together with a light rubber band to eliminate the spread that happens after a couple of landings. I've only flown the 1.5 once, well one day. Got about 6 flights in on 2 batteries with a charger at the field (AMA sanctioned Lorian County Radio Control club). I've been out of the hobby for 10+ years and only flew for a few years as it was. The new tech is amazing. Once I saw it worked myself after watching you I felt more comfortable with the stabilization and safe then I did back in the day learning with a trainer! Still doing most of my flying in safe but I am "flipping the switch" more and more each day. I like the real world attitude/perspective of your videos. I've been in clubs in the past with "elitists" in the group, no fun... Anyway old planes are coming out of storage week by week and spring is taking to long to come! Need to remember to use one of your links for a purchase. Been looking at the twin otter you reviewed. Would love to see a review of the Free Wing A6 intruder (motionrc.com). I had 2 1/4 scale plastic Revell A6 models hanging from my ceiling in my teens, banked/staggered like they were flying in formation. Even brought them and hung them in my first apartment. Would love to actually fly one!!! Just got the smaller FMS Fox, just waiting for pay day to get a spectrum AR6 style receiver for it. All the planes I crashed in my first couple of years to me its a no brainer to install these new safe/stabilized receivers. I know its not going to completely eliminate crashes but from my experience so far if you "behave" while using safe it would be pretty hard...

Great video and your camera crew is a great videographer too. Hey Brian your absolutely correct in saying that Lok-Tite damages plastic, it actually makes the plastic very brittle. But there is a great alternative that works very well, it’s not permanent but does a great job at keeping the screws from vibrating loose. I’ll bet your camera crew uses it too, it’s nail polish, any clear nail polish will work and does not react to plastics either. Also people were complaining about the landing gear eventually being torn from the a/c on hard landings, on the Hobby Squawk forum there is a person that has made an upgrade for this issue, it’s a CNC crafted aluminum piece that replaces the plastic portion of where they all seem to break, very inexpensive and works fantastic. Just wanted to throw those tidbits out there for you and others. This was my first a/c and I love it still.

Hey man, just want to thank you for your super helpful video. I started out with a Blade 230SV2 around March and this is my first Plane. I would have done wrong a ton while assembling it. Today I had my maiden flight with her (3200mA 3S Spektrum SMART pack ~ 9min flight time in SAFE mode). It was super fun and I was able to land it without a scratch multiple times on my clubs grass runway (looks like training on RF9 was paying of a bit). If you ever ask yourself again -and I know you do, cause I've seen it^^, who is gona profit from a "in detail 3h video" about a Plane, well it's guys like me. This channel of yours is awesome, keep rockin! Cheers.

Hello Brian and Mrs Megan aka camera crew. I got to help a friend at the field set up that plane. Did it straight by manual it flew fine. But i was nervous about it because wasn't my plane. Told him to make adjustments for his own flying style. Thanks for the video keep flying you guys. As always well done.

The timing on this video was phenomenal! On Sunday, prior to it's release, I had already spent a couple hours contemplating pulling the trigger because of all the fun I'd been having on my Night Timber X. I’ve been running it on 32003S30 with the 13x6.5 prop and carbon spar because I'm looking for more acrobatic fun without going 3D. However, I found myself still wanting something a little faster with more scale flight capabilities. I was hoping this would check that box and was glad to see that you believe so (...?) on 4S. Picked up a couple 22004S50s to boot. Hoping it's a rocket...faster than my Valiant.

I do have other 4S planes, but this landing gear will be phenomenal for winter flying when the ground freezes and there is that stepped in snow after snow that thaws and freezes all uneven over time. Now I can fly during those few month’s without the exceptional fear of landing gear damage on our already uneven grass runway. Some still fly, but that uneven frozen stuff can be worse on landing gear than just hitting asphalt hard. Thank goodness for STOL!! I can even go to local fields. With or without CVD, those are bound to be clear.

Plus, the lights…the lights! The TT can be flown till dusk. The NTX a bit later. Great once the sun starts setting around 4pm. Now I just have to figure out how to fit the TT in the car without taking the wings off. The NTX is challenging enough on its own.

I have to agree with your comments about this being a first timer plane. I got one as my first real plane; I had to replace the prop 3 times and landing springs several times; and I’ve only been out 3 times. And I will also not that, yes, this thing doesn’t turn well in safe mode due to the limits. I’ve been waiting for you to review this one! Love your informative videos. Your sense of humor, especially in your build videos, makes me laugh so hard!
