Good write up as usual.I really wish they pull the trigger and do a Dark Energy plot line for any future endavours of the franchise.

One potentially interesting idea is the fact how they kinda solved consciousness in the Mass Effect Universe, I think that's another direction the writers could potentially play it.

Special relativity actually says you can travel faster than light, if already moving faster than light. What you can't do is accelerate to or thru the speed of light. Unless you are space, then you can do what evs.

I thought the basic idea of mass effect was that an electrical current into it causes the inertial mass to be reduced, without effecting the mass for relativity. This causes side effects in space time and such.

Very simple concept, when you compare it to other ftl drives from stories.
