Good morning! A couple of things to keep in mind: one is that this obviously doesn't reflect the opinions of "all" people; this is just a group of a few thousand who happen to follow me on my instagram. There will be biases due to age, demographic, the fact that all of these people obviously follow me and many other youtube "influencers" - so the results are not to be taken as a serious reflection on a perfume's standing. It's just for fun! It also goes to show that perfume is very subjective because a few that landed on the hated list also landed on the loves list. At the end of the day it's just scented water and we should wear whatever we want. I hope you enjoy watching :)

That's how u know a perfume it's great. It's loved and hated by some at the same time. Art can't be understood by everyone.

From a consumer research perspective: the reason you see some of the most popular perfumes in this list is because it’s the perfumes more people know off the top of their head. It all comes down to unaided awareness.

I don't care what people think about the fragrances that I love

So, the moral of this story is, "Wear what YOU like, and don't even worry if certain people don't "get it"! Glad my favorite fragrance is not on this list, though it is different and beautiful, atypical; however, even if it were on this list, I would continue to wear it and love it. Life is short. ;)

Throwing this out there... I'm 45 and I think Chanel Number 5 is awful. So it's not necessarily an age thing. Scents are specific to a person, not necessarily an age group.

I have Chanel no 5 because my mother wore it, and it was soft on her, so it reminds me of her. ❤⚘

I remember when YSL Opium came out and I loved the richness and exotic souk vibe.

Thierry Mugler Angel.... I remember many many years ago, this was absolutely everywhere and you couldn’t go to a mall without being involuntarily sprayed with it. I didn’t know anyone who didn’t dislike it.

I’ve loved Chanel No 5 since I was in junior high. I’ve worn a lot of different perfumes over the years, but Chanel No5 is the only one I’ve emptied and repurchased many times over the past 50 years.

One thing I'd like to know in these polls of liking a fragrance, is what is the average age is in smelling the fragrances?
I'm 71 y.o. so perhaps this is generational. I LOVE Shalimar. My husband loves it. Still. My other fragrances I change up with is Chanel #5, Ysatis, Arpege, Sortilege by Le Galion, and Madame Rochas. These are all old school scents and are not the same today, as when they were made back in the day. Don't care for the scents today and real perfume is so ungodly priced, you end up having to choose something else. If I could buy just one and it was made with the same ingredients back when I was younger, it would be Sortilege by Le Galion. The knockoffs of this are horrible.

The original Viva La Juicy is still my favorite perfume. It's wonderful and iconic and I'll always have it in my collection.

Patchouli is a hard note for many people to like, but its also what helps perfumes project and last longer! I don't normally like Patchouli, but i don't mind it in certain perfumes when im in the mood for it.

The YSL Libre line is one of my forever loves. The fact that it made to nr1 on the most disliked perfumes just makes me wear it more proudly haha. Angel by Mugler should have made this list. I found that perfume absolutely detestable, but I understand how it was groundbreaking for its time

Seeing Shalimar on this list is disappointing coz it's nothing like all those modern perfumes which smells girly, flowery or sexy. Shalimar is a mature woman's perfume who is comforting and nurturing and I absolutely love it. I love smelling mature and bossy instead of girly or sexy.

I don’t agree with your description of Shalimar. It’s not a citrus fragrance. It’s an oriental. I agree it’s a very sophisticated scent, not for young women who like fruity sweet perfumes.

I still love Chanel No. 5 because I grew up to that scent. But now I layer it with something flowery or fruity as a top note. I also love wearing it to bed by itself. 💤

Poor La Vie est Belle! I absolutely adore this fragrance and it's one of my most complimented, so it's heartbreaking to know it made this list... I feel like people don't like it because it was so popular

Sometimes people just get tired of a very popular fragrance. I am not surprised at the polarization of some fragrances.

I love black opium. I loved the neon one too! And I love viva la juicy Perfumes too, especially gold couture, it's just so caramely!
