Restaurants and fast food are part of the soda wars that has intense competition. Coke and Pepsi both seek to be exclusive vendors in those venues. My father was proud that his restaurant offered both. He mentioned that when the account managers would tell him "You really should carry only one", he'd respond "So, should I drop yours?" Not a offer that either took.

Man, it's like this YouTube channel was building up to this point this entire time.
I said "this" three times in this comment. (Five* times now)

I think it’s crazy that basically all drinks are owned by either Coke or Pepsi

RC Cola pushing Coke and Pepsi into making diet sodas was a twist I did not expect.

I’m just shocked that these 2 companies own almost every drink I can think of

One gap in the Mountain Dew story is that Coca-Cola's _first_ answer to it was Mello Yello, in 1979. This is probably Coke's most successful answer to Mountain Dew, and is still available in a decent number of markets (mostly in the eastern part of the US). I'd still say that Mountain Dew was the clear winner in that particular competition though.

That ended too quickly, we need part 2!

Hey company man. You kept repeating how the video was getting too long, but honestly I love your long videos. I drive a lot for work, so I like to watch videos and yours are some of my favorite to pass the time. Don’t shy away from long videos. Some of us love your longer videos. Thanks for all you’ve done for us 💛💛

Normally I don't watch stuff about companies and rises and falls of them etc but you make it so interesting I find myself greatly enjoying something I otherwise might not be interested in or care about much.

So basically, coke dominates traditional sodas, Pepsi dominates everything else. It's kind of a perfect Yin Yang where they're competing in all drink markets but they each control certain subsets of them

Hey Mr.Man, video suggestion: Ulta vs Sephora. It's been interesting seeing the makeup and beauty industry give rise to these 2 "competitors" largely in the last decade or so. I think it would make an interesting comparison looking at how their approaches differ/overlap

Great video! Crazy how these two giants compete like that. Mountain Dew is a classic brand for sure, would make for a good video.

A video about Mountain Dew would go hard, there’s so many different flavors and I’m sure so much history behind all of it lol

I'm old enough to have "taken the Pepsi challenge" Did it twice. Once locally and once at the state fair. Both times the samples were a small sip from a Dixie cup, served warm (summer time so ~90oF liquid) and both colas were flat. Under those conditions, neither tasted like what you get from a cold, glass bottle. So not surprised the sweeter one won.

Fun fact, Urge (Surge) was first released in as a test product in Norway, then later on came to other countries including the US. It was discontinuued, but after push-back from consumers on facebook etc, it's still being produced and sold in Norway. So, if you've got the Urge for Surge ( :| ) come to Norway as it's the only place you can get it. I live in Sweden and always bring back a few liters when I visit family lol.

5:50 in some international markets, PepsiCo distributes 7-Up and markets it alongside Pepsi and Mirinda
As for me, I stopped drinking soft drinks like ten or so years ago after finishing high-school, I realized they had too much sugar, though I occasionally drink sodas if I'm in party, or in a friend or relative's house, and honestly I think both Coke and Pepsi taste very different from what I remember, and as a kid I think I always preferred Pepsi
