A well presented video!

Some pointers,
1. Don't tap a metal bearing with a steel hammer, use a soft face hammer or a block of wood.
2. Wire wheel brush any bolts and nuts you remove.
3. Smear the strut base with small amount of grease to help the refit.
4. Don't let the hub touch the CV boot on reassembly. Just a small tear in the boot and it needs replacing.

The bottom arm ball joint nut on these VWs is one stubborn individual!

That has to be a world record for changing a front wheel bearing with Zero issues.

And also he didn't use the tool to split the spindle from the shock.

Is it necessary to buy the whole hub assembly for repair if it is a worn out bearing or is the bearing alone fine to buy ? Please help

To unmount the knuckle you will need a "knuckle spreader" instead of hammering down the knuckle. Also, to the viewers that have never done this, do not expect the ball joint or steering arm to come out easily. It will be a pain. Another observation, when taking the hub from the bearing, the bearing will leave a ring that will be stuck there. You will need to either use a torch to heat it up or use a special extractor to take it out. Again, When parts sit installed in car for a long time they will want to stay that way and refuse to leave easily...

I like how the bearing just fell out... Real life.. Clamp the knuckle in the biggest bench vice you can find and proceed to tighten till your skin peels off.
Beat the living crap out of the bearing to watch the inner race fall out with the hub still attached!
Then spend another hour carefully grinding and beating the race till it cracks off the hub. Maybe a few shards of bearing implanted in your face, hands and arms.
Swear it all in its beauty.
Ofcourse followed by pushing the seized outer race/casing with a 10 ton press...
All good fun

FYI Autodoc, the process is great. However the general audience watching these videos arent experinced mechanics and dont have the eye to just have a go.
Preparing the watcher / wanabe Edd china's with usefull information for their decent into hell may be good. Seized bolts, strut stuck in knuckle and ofcourse bearings that have watched 127 hours too many times.

In all these front bearing replacements when you whack out the hub the bearing inner race never seems to come out still attached to the hub shaft! Either your lucky or your just not showing the remove process (i.e. Jaw clamp extractor or the angle grinder and chisel method)

What is preventing the center nut from loosing? Other cars have a locking pin, this one (and mine) doesn't and it came a bit loose after about 6 months
