I actually like that the Dad has no tragic backstory for his arm. In fact, now that I think about it, he’s actually a juxtaposition for the boys, Alberto specifically. Alberto doesn’t believe that he and Luca can live among the humans, however, Giulia’s dad “came into this world” with a disability of his own, and he still gets by without it, so why can’t Luca and Alberto?

Literally the second scene shows Luca herding fish like they were sheep. You have the underwater hierarchy established there immediately. So no, merpeople and fish are not on the same level, although they are possibly genetically related (like humans and pigs, or humans and cows)

I imagined that the Honest Title at the end would be something like "Fin-eas and Al-Ferb-o, " but "Chum and Chummer" is still very clever.

I watched this with my family and every time Alberto would say
“What’s wrong with you stupido”
My four year old little sister would look at me giggle and I would go
“What’s wrong with you stupido” in a horrible attempt at an Italian accent

Honestly, i'm a 30yo italian guy.. watched it in eng.
And I cried.
It reminded me my summer holidays when I was a kid, and those friendship i made that i had to leave behind..
To me, Luca is special.

Luca was so fluffy and enjoyable like a grandma's hug! I actually liked that they didn't over complicate the plot with unnecessary lores, it is a simple movie about those unforgettable friendships you develop growing up.
