What If You Fell Into Antarctica's Largest Subglacial Lake?

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to explore one of Jupiter's moons without ever leaving Earth? Or what would happen to your body under a monstrous amount of pressure like this? If you are determined to do both then your best bet would be to plunge into Lake Vostok, in Antarctica. But first, you'll need to drill through 4 km (2.5 mi) of thick ice just to get to this unworldly ecosystem. And its weight squeezes the water with 350 times the atmospheric pressure at sea level. What would happen if you dive into this freezing lake? How would your body react once you reach the water? What kind of special gear would you need? What kind of life would you encounter, if any? What exactly is organism 46b?

It's crazy how unique our earth is. We have places with such a small atmosphere and then we have others with extreme pressure

I've heard of this lake, but stupidly because of its name, I thought it was in Russia! D'oh!

”What if you fell into lake Vostok?”

Me: I'm pretty sure I will die because I can't even swim nor make myself float 😂

That makes me wonder what if humans had the same small molecules that prevented the deep-sea creatures from being crushed under pressure.

If the water pressure is so high, wouldn’t drilling a hole in the ice cause a geyser? Except that the water would freeze as it approached the surface.
