Disney Channel is Gone Around The World (Outside of America)

Disney Channel just shut down in more places around the world. The same network that brought us Gravity Falls, Amphibia, The Owl House, and The Ghost & Molly McGee, will no longer be available in many countries outside of America. What's going on with Disney Channel's shutdown?

Disney is taking a new strategy with their content on TV. Southeast Asia Disney Channels are officially gone, with others around the world following close behind. New episodes of The Owl House, Amphibia, Big City Greens, The Ghost & Molly McGee and more will have a primary home on Disney Plus for everyone. While the USA Disney Channel is still up and running, it will likely end within the next few years as the company switches over to streaming.

The fact it ended with Star singing “I’m really thinking I can call this place home”... singlehandedly the most saddest thing ever.

OG's will understand the pain of not catching up to a show in cable.

Friendly reminder that Disney Channel will turn 40 years old in 2023. It’s good to see the network still being alive in America before their 40th anniversary.

When star said " I think I'm gonna call this place my home" she meant that she was traveling to Disney plus now, and she's ok being there and not in southeast Asia anymore.

If you’re one of the people who managed to capture footage of the exact moment Disney Channel becomes unavailable, then, you must have some incredibly impressive timing skills.

At least they waited till Star's credits were finished.

It's Walt Disney World's 50th birthday and now many won't be able to experience what it created.

Sad Fact: The last thing Disney content's premiered in South East Asia is AMPHIBIA's "True Colors".
If it were to be taken in double meaning, then all of Disney's Marcy, & Andrias is Disney+.

0:45 Imagine if Star actually premiered its first episode around the time this happened…
Star: 🎵 “I really think that I can call this place home.” 🎵
Disney Channel: “Are you sure about that?”

it's just not the same being given all the episodes at the same time, part of the fun of watching ur favourite shows is hoping u will get an episode u haven't seen

"This Channel is no longer available."
Leget sounds like when someone desides to quit YouTube.

Honestly, the reason I sometimes prefer live over streaming is that I don't have to decide which of thousands of shows to watch, there is a more limited selection of stuff to watch, and I can just find something I'm interested in, and hop in. With streaming it feels a bit more overwhelming, basically, it's like: this looks good, but maybe I should start with this, ooh but this looks better, ooh and it even has this, but I've seen that 20 times already, uuh, ugh this one looks dumb, and uhhh... (turns off TV) there is nothing to watch.

EDIT: Thanks for the heart, Vailskibum!
EDIT2: it's gone? What happened?

At least a good thing about Disney is that Amphibia comes out tomorrow so that’s a plus

I still like cable ironically because I don't really "watch" tv. I listen to it in the background while i'm doing stuff. it's kind of weird to actively choose to stream something only for it to be playing in the background. I guess it kind of feels better when I don't have complete control over what's on.

I’m really gonna miss the era of television. I think it would be cool if Disney+ had a live feature so it could kinda resemble cable, and a feature where you can watch a specific day in time and watch exactly what they showed that day. I don’t know if hey have the archives for that, but it would be really cool to have a bite from the past. 💖

The reasons why I watched Disney Channel was for Gravity Falls, Amphibia, The Owl House, and Ducktales.
God I loved to watch Ducktales in Disney, it was long ago since I felt like a kid waiting for the next episode.
There was that magic of the TV, wait for the unexpected. And the wait was (most of the time) worth it.
