The New Evangelicals: It’s been a year since the Hamas massacre that killed 1200 Jews, the highest single amount since the Holocaust. In response, Israel has killed an estimated 40,000 Palestinians many of which were women and children. There is no end in sight as more countries are getting involved. Special guests Daniel Bannoura and Kevin Carnahan join Tim live to discuss the events of the past year and what the future looks like.

The New Evangelicals exists to support those who are tired of how evangelical church has been done before and want to see an authentic faith lived out with Jesus at the center. On this channel, you'll see videos from our founder Tim Whitaker and our incredible guests as they react and respond biblically to topics such as Christian Nationalism, church hurt, terrible Christian movies, bad conservative Christian takes, and MUCH more!

We are committed to building a caring community that emulates the ways of Jesus by reclaiming the evangelical tradition and embracing values that build a better way forward. If you’ve been marginalized by your faith, you are welcome here. We’ve built an empathetic and inclusive space that encourages authentic conversations, connections and faith. Whether you consider yourself a Christian, an exvangelical, someone who's questioning your faith, or someone who's left the faith entirely, you are welcome here!

I am so happy to see a sane, nuanced conversation about a very complicated topic. We have to learn to hold two realities and know that two things can be true at the same time. This conversation is a perfect companion to Ta-Nehisi Coates's latest book, "The Message". Thank you for a great podcast!

This is beautiful. The man from Palestine is brave and wiser than most can comprehend as nuance seems to be lost on most anymore. Thoughts can be complicated and complex. This is the type of man that the world needs but destroys.

Appreciate someone anyone saying all of this broadcast. How do you make this more widespread. Been talking about the long term conditions of Gaza. Mostly to deaf eats.

Please have Daniel back. I would love to hear more about the Christianity of the east vrs the American version of Christianity. I think so many patches have been stitched onto our quilt that don't belong and don't match the beautiful pattern of the faith.

For a pod that regularly inspires critical thought that challenges my default frame of understanding, this episode is nothing short of invaluable to me.

Mahalo to both of your insightful guests, and especially to Daniel for bringing the balance of what the a c t u a l issue is with the mass devastation of human lives. One of my deepest fears is to lose a child— this violent dehumanization of living beings has been difficult to make sense of when considering the selfish nature of politics today, and I can’t fathom losing my babies because of it.

Mahalo for this content, TNE!

Tim don't underestimate your value to the Jewish community, by definition we're not Jesus people but some of us profoundly value your representation of actual Evangelical values thank you, up until now from my perspective Christian nationalism in Mainland North America has been completely ignored, you're a very valued rational voice in a space that has conspicuously lacked one.

John Oliver Tonight did an episode on Israel and Palestine. It is truly informative and sad and shocking. But proper information if anyone’s interested in knowing more.
Yes, there is more!

Correct me if I’m wrong please but didn’t Israel use attack helicopters indiscriminately that day, causing a sizable percentage of the Israeli deaths on October 7? That whole incursion just seemed off to me after paying close attention for a very long time to the situation over there. That very day Netanyahu was glowing and smiling from ear to ear giddy to have a reason to annihilate Palestinians in Gaza. It just really feels unserious to me when ppl want to use oct 7 as an event that the Palestinians are wholly responsible for.

I respect your Palestinian Christian panel member but if he thinks that a Christian nationalist government being in charge of the US Republic is a good idea he needs to deeply rethink that because if you think it's bad now. perhaps he should consider the lives that are at stake because it seems like he's promoting a lot more Hamas version than I'm comfortable with.

This is the first time you mentioned the largest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust or the antisemitism that has increased around the world and in America. Antisemitism hasn’t actually increased just expressing it has become acceptable.

I completely agree with Danielle about exposing our political system for what it is. That is how I believed in 2016 and decided not to vote for anyone out of what I called conscious apathy. However, I think at this point, Trump would pose an even greater risk to the Palestinians And the world. I think as conscious and pathetic people we need to get the better option in there and then put all the freaking pressure we can on them to end peacefully and stop the genocide, but I also understand where he’s coming from and he makes a very valid point. I will just say that I thought one election going to Trump and four years of Trump would wake the American people up to the horrible state of our system and it did not do it, that didn’t do it. I don’t know that another four years would. Or perhaps Americans are waking up and that’s what we are seeing now

I still have questions about his “Evangelical values.” Does he believe the Jews who murdered are now in Heaven or Hell, for a start. This is the first time he’s mentioned the Jews who were murdered. Hamas and Hezbollah both have a charter that calls for the genocide of Jews, not just Israelis. Hezbollah blew up a Jewish Community Center in Buenos Aires. I don’t support Netanyahu but I blame Hamas for the deaths in Gaza. Tim has never expressed any sympathy for the hostages. There was a ceasefire in effect on Oct 6. Hamas broke it on Oct 7.

Most disappointed in these videos by TNE on the Hamas-initiated war. Stripped of Christian Zionism, there is still a compelling case for supporting Israel and opposing terror and the annihilation of the only Jewish state. Too bad you didn’t have guests to provide real balance. Rejecting Christian Zionism does not necessitate adopting a radical, blinkered, duped pro-Hamas position.

I still stand with Israel. I don’t agree with everything Israel has done the past year, but Jesus is standing with Israel, and so should we.

So grateful for this! As someone who will not vote for Kamala (Jill Stein is amazing) in light of my love for the Palestinian people, it was refreshing to hear someone make the case for voting with your morals. Likewise, as much as Trump scares me and that I'd rather have our first woman president in office, I can't stand how the Dems in office allow for complacency despite not actually supporting what they claim to support... An end to police brutality and institutionalized racism, climate change policies, etc. With a Republican in office, at least we have to face the ugly in our country. I don't hope he wins, but I'd rather he did then give my vote to Kamala and the war machine.
