The musical motif to indicate the presence of monsters in 'Different Beasts' is basically Odysseus singing "Call an Ambulance! But not for me" and I love it!!

The way it goes from “WE are a different beast now” to “HE is a different beast now” shows how the crew is distancing themselves from Odysseus. (It’s also foreshadowing Mutiny which is super heartbreaking). The details are AMAZING 🤩

That ENTIRE part in Different Beast was the “hero explains to the villain how he beat him” type moment

The really messed up part about the "cut off their tails" thing is that this happens to sharks, who are nowhere near as dangerous as sirens! Their fins are cut off for soup, they can't swim without them, and they bleed out very painfully, and it's all for nothing because the fins are tasteless and have to be flavoured with other meat.
The fact that it calls this to mind, at least for me, makes it an even better way of showing that Odysseus has become the monster. I don't know if the shark thing was on purpose, but either way, it's brilliant!
