Daniel Ricciardo has hit back at Red Bull after seeing Lawson promoted. The man feels backstabbed by the team, but is that the truth? Hasn't he just underperformed in recent times? And why is that Red Bull's mistake?

The thing that still bothers me and never gets mentioned is the RB and VCarb cars even though they share engine and mechanical elements etc are still different cars in design and DR nailed it when he tested the RB car but to expect the same result out of a badly designed VCarb car is ridiculous. DR and Max have similar preferences in how a car drives and responds to the driver. DR was never going to see the end of the season because Lawson was on contract to do a guaranteed minimum amount of races in 2024 or he could walk away from Red Bull altogether. The RB show is an absolute dogs breakfast….

I really wish Danny Ric had done better at VCARB. He would have been the perfect 2nd driver to Max now that he grew up a bit. It was just too little too late. 😢

I don't think it will be Lawson's job to help Verstappen in 2025... Verstappen doesn't want help (might be team-orders but that's all it will be), this also why he does not help his teammate(s). "You want to win?... You need to step up and go for it!".

2:29 there a lot of reason why Yuki doesn’t fit in the second chair. Yuki’s cantankerousness over the season showed that he hasn’t really matured. To be second to Max, they need either a seasoned driver (which would leave them with no main team drivers when Max retires after 2028), or a rookie that can handle the strain and is ok with being 2nd seat. Max has helped with Lawson’s development for years, so he ended up being the better choice.

Thanks, interesting conjecture! The second driver has a problem at Red Bull. The favouritism shown to Vettel and then Verstappen makes the second driver's position untenable.
I hopoe Lawson can stand that pressure, otherwise he will also be thrown on the pile of failed drivers.

Definitely Red Bull wrecked Daniel Riccardo career they should have replaced Perez after Daniel Ric did the Test in the RB19 Preze was Done then, and given the RB seat to Lawson.

@Formula Action Great video topic! I'm a huge Ricciardo fan. But Ricciardo's driving of the VCARB car was just OK. While he was told by Horner and Mekes he was getting the RED BULL seat at one point this year. It appears MARKO won the argument against it days later. Ricciardo's driving wasn't consistently fast enough. At 34 years old, whether caused by lack of being in OPTMAL race condition (weight and lack of simulator work) or the VCARB's capabilities, Ricciardo's dedication to peak performance just wasn't there. I can see Ricciardo being disappointed at Lawson getting the Red Bull seat because Lawson's results and speed are not much different, but Lawson is eager to do simulator work and in better physical condition and has potential upsides. Daniel's driving style do not match with the current F! ground effects car.
