Texting is actually great when people don't get upset when you don't answer immediately

It is so weird to me that texting became that. For me, it was the perfect way of contacting someone, and letting them know that it wasn't urgent, else I would have called.

Lowkey with the multitasking I always NEED to listen to/watch something when I’m eating or I get weird and bored with food- YouTube is my saving grace if I’m eating alone

And then there's the people who send text messages like letters. They send it and go do other things cause you're probably busy, but they had this thought in mind, or a question, or anything else and they thought of you. But they also know life is busy and hectic, so instead of calling and interrupting your schedule or thought-process, they leave a digital letter for you to answer at your leisure.

That's nice.

My brother can eat and have a conversation without missing a beat. went to visit him recently and forgot this. We were chilling at the burger joint talking (him doing the majority of the talking) and all of the sudden his foods gone. I was flabbergasted that he ate his whole darn burger and fries without shutting up to do so.

There are good texters and bad texters. Good ones don't get weird about it when you don't answer right away because they are an adult too and understand that real life happens. Bad texters act like children and don't understand the world doesn't revolve around them. Some people grow into good texters, and some people remain this way. Bad texters don't keep friends.

Okay, YES, I hear you on the texting and I loathe the pressure to open the message and reply, BUT texting is the lesser evil. The alternative is calling. CALLING SOMEONE. Like, who invented that? What even is that? Noooo, I don't suddenly want to talk to someone out of the blue.

The texting part really spoke to my soul. I feel like such a weirdo for not liking texting but my real friends know I will often take days to respond but that it's not at all personal and I absolutely love them for that❤

Huh.
Maybe it's a generational thing, or a local culture thing, or a "MY friends" thing, but...
The OPPOSITE is true of texting, in my experience. I (and my friends) love texting BECAUSE it's unobtrusive, and can be answered when and IF you're in a place to answer.

I have entire relationships that continue to thrive only because we intermittently text. Months long conversations via text, and they're only like five sentences long. 😂
