THE FIRST CRUSADE (1095-1099)

The Crusades were a set of wars or military campaigns especially between Christians and Muslims in the Eastern Mediterranean world in the eleventh through thirteenth centuries AD. The First Crusade laid the foundation for later Crusades by setting the rationale, method of recruitment, and means by which the military campaigns were carried out.
The root cause of the First Crusade was the invasion and capture of Palestine and formerly Christian lands in Eastern Europe by Muslim armies. At first, the Fatimids of Egypt ruled over Palestine and allowed Jews and Christians to worship freely as long as they did not try to convert people to their religion, build new places of worship, or refuse to pay taxes.

Byzantine Emperor Alexius I was concerned about access to Jerusalem and other Eastern Christian cities like Alexandria and Antioch. Alexius I even feared that the Byzantine capital of Constantinople might fall to the encroaching Muslims and since he was faced with internal struggles of his own, he reached out to Pope Urban II for help. Now, the Pope had no control over any military in Western Europe and was involved in disputes of his own with Western kings regarding the relationship between church and state. However, Urban II recognized this as an opportunity to improve three situations: (1) improve his influence in Western Europe, (2) help reunite Eastern and Western Christians following the Great Schism of 1054—the subject of another video, and (3) improve access for pilgrims to Jerusalem and other holy sites in Palestine.

It has been 2, 000 years since God spoke to people in person. This is the most terrible period of time.
"Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:
And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it." (Amos 8:11-12).
In the first century, God spoke to believers live and worked miracles through them. As it is written:
"And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.
And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following..." (Mark 16:17-20).
But as they destroyed the church of Christ, the signs ceased and this has been going on for 2000 years. As it is written, "We see not our signs: there is no more any prophet: neither is there among us any that knoweth how long." (Psalm 74:9).
For 2, 000 years there are no apostles, no prophets, no preachers whom God called, no believers freed from sins and false teachings.
As it is written, "God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God.
Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one." (Psalm 53:2-3).
Jesus said: "I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work" (John 9:4). It is the longest night when no one can do miracles and God does not speak to anyone live.
But God's silence will not be endless, for it is written: "I have long time holden my peace; I have been still, and refrained myself: now will I cry like a travailing woman; I will destroy and devour at once.I will make waste mountains and hills, and dry up all their herbs; and I will make the rivers islands, and I will dry up the pools.
And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them." (Isaiah 42:14-16).
God will speak His word alive again, and the church of Christ will be raised up in the last days.
As it is written, "And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:" (Rev 12:1).
The appearance of the Church will be the great sign of the Second Coming of Christ.

It wasn't known as Palestine!
Long after the Roman empire finished, the name of Palestine for that land was forgotten.
Under the Ottoman empire, the thought of nationality and nations was discouraged.
This helped in crushing any thoughts of fighting for the freedom of a nation.
It was only when Britain and France pushed the Ottoman Caliphate out of the middle east that the idea of setting up nations was implemented.
I have a feeling that Iran would very much like to set up a little empire.
It would probably be known as the Shi'a caliphate.
But I also believe that Tyip erdogan has similar ideas of his own.
I think that he would like to re establish the ottoman empire.
