In this series of videos I am summarising and then answering, one by one, the questions I received from prospective computer science applicants who turned up at the Open Days of Trinity College or the Department of Computer Science and Technology at the University of Cambridge.

Would you suggest taking A level Physics or Computer Science to do Computer Science at Cambridge alongside Maths and Further Maths, because on the Trinity website it says Physics is preferred but intuitively you would think Computer Science would be preferred. At my school I can only take three so I must pick either Computer Science or Physics. I’ll make sure to subscribe as I am going into year 12 and planning on applying in year 13!

If Cambridge doesn't care about the topics I know and only cares about my skill to efficiently think and learn, then is this a skill that I can acquire? How can one obtain (or match) the reasoning behaviour and methods which Cambridge desires in their students if not through rigorously practising exercises and questions from a specific field (eg. computer science or maths)?

Is it a skill that you're only lucky to obtain from a privileged educational upbringing, environment or you're born with etc?
