Where does one start when trying to capture or depict the magnanimous contribution and legacy that Burt Bacharach has left on the culture? Perhaps the recording artist he is most associated with - Dionne Warwick and the 1964 hit single 'Walk On By' felt for me the most suitable place to start. Hal David and Burt Bacharach composed countless hit singles for a diverse range of artists in the 1950's through to the 00's. Hal was the lyricist and Burt the music and their partnership will go down in history as among the most prolific and successful and iconic. Dionne Warwick remained close to Burt until the end of his life, which sadly occurred this week (Feb 8, 2023). Her amazing tones and range made her the perfect muse for the brilliance that was Hal David and Burt Bacharach.
