OnePlus 12 versus Pixel 8 Pro camera comparison

Time for a Pixel 8 Pro versus OnePlus 12 camera comparison to see which device captures better photos in day-to-day use. The OnePlus 12 has a pretty significant camera system upgrade this year, but is it enough to catch up or even pass the imaging capabilities of the Pixel 8 Pro?

as much as i would like to support OP12, the pixel 8 pro is quite alot better when it comes to cameras and shooting.

The colours of the OnePlus selfie is much better than the pixel's at 0:58. I own a pixel 7 pro and I hate how I have to edit almost every selfie I take due to pixel processing darkening my skin/eyes and even making my skin look grainy and like reptile skin at times. I'd rather have my selfies overexposed than underexposed and blackened like the Pixel. The same thing applies for the selfie video as well. At 2:25 of the video if you look at his mouth and eyes in the Pixel selfie video they're devoid of colour and almost look like black holes have been overlayed, the inside of his mouth looks extremely dark, underexposed, unnatural and makes him look sick. The oneplus exposes the skin tone and features of the face much better for selfie photos and videos than the pixel and I hope google can fix this but Google never really seems to take our issues seriously as pixel owners.

Thanks for the review and the great content!

Indoor colours are so different that I can't understand which one is true to life 😮

First of all, amazing video. But one question, wich one gives the best color accuracy? I see a lot of difference but hard to tell which is true to life. I really like the 1+12 because it is a very good all round smartphone and i really want to upgrade my s21plus. But still in doubt.

Great video! Long time pixel owner here. Went from P7P TO OP12. Lasted 2 days before returning it and going back to my P7P. OP has made great improvements, but real world, every day use... Absolutely no comparison. Pixel is miles ahead!

I really do like your camera test videos but i personally want to just watch the photo parts not the video but i have to search for it among the mixed of photos and videos. I would like to suggest that separating these 2 parts makes your videos a lot better. Thank you

The Cleveland Art Museum is an amazing place. The color between these two phones couldn't be more different. The OnePlus definitely seems more conservative with the saturation but the Pixel seems sharper in most circumstances.

Im having trouble getting over how far off the white balance is on the Pixel.
It's definitely a subjective thing whether you like it or not, but every photo and video taken by the pixel was so far into the warm end of the spectrum in the daytime and the cold end at night (but it was weird because sometimes it was very warm in some shots at night depending on the lens that was being used) that it was very unnatural.
You can like that, that is totally okay to think that looks good but its not how things look in real life.
You can really tell on the low light photos of the bar sign with the blue lettering that said "Cedar Lee" (8:36) where everything on the Pixel end took on a cooler hue, which made the actual blue lettering of "Cedar Lee" look more white than it peobably did in real life.
Then when the Pixel took the 5x telephoto shot it corrected itself.
What i think is happening here (and I am by no means an expert) is that the AI post-processing that Google phones are known for is doing too much and in my opinion all that processing hurts the image, because it comes out with an image that just isnt true to life.
But again, its fine to like the Pixel's camera more. A ton of people do.

For the pictures, the Pixel crushed it on all of the rear cameras. For the front-facer, the OP12 easily took better snap. For video, the OP12 isn't even competitive.

My biggest surprise was how the 6x camera from the OnePlus 12 performed. It was not good. No OIS or EIS, maybe? Every shot was blurry.

Pixel still the king. OnePlus like always good but not as good as Samsung Pixel or iPhone. Photos with moving objects is the biggest problem with OnePlus camera.

Could have done without the music, it's a bit too loud.

Yes, the pixel definitely take better pictures and videos; but very trivial differences. The night shots from op looks like night shots should be; darker!! not resemble daylight like the pixel! the videos captures are very subjective too; to me the op does a pretty decent job with videos. The bottom line for the average consumer are two things that the op excels over any flagship cameras in 2024; and that is the price and the battery size. I will buy a Oneplus 12 in a heartbeat, just for those two points.

In my opinion - for the OnePlus 12 cameras to be so comparable to the Pixel in many ways, says a lot. (Except selfies, the Pixels take very unflattering selfies)

I feel like people want the 12's cameras to be the hands down, absolute best just because the phone truly excels at literally everything else.

Hello everyone, one question. Is it better to buy Xiaomi 13T pro or OnePlus 12? I'm changing my Mate 20pro, and it's hard for me to find a phone with a good camera, which one to buy between the Xiaomi 13t pro and the OnePlus 12, the camera above all is important🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️

Pixel does a better job in photos, and the difference is even more obvious in videos. But, I'm impressed with OnePlus 12 tbh. You can buy it for 50-70% of the Pixel's price and it has a lot better chipset.
