Dr. Collin Scantlebury- the problem Barbados faces with water shortages is no different from those seen in Portland Jamaica which has countless rivers and above average rainfall. I have also spent some time in the arid Namibia. We need to compare the cost of trucks and desalination plants versus the cost of construction of suitable well positioned water catchments. The Spring Garden desalination plant (i have not been in Barbados for years but back then it purified brackish and not heavy salt water) does easy work and the surface catchments would require little energy to provide the necessary tiny island like Barbados should not have these problems providing water for so few people!!!..Dr. Collin Scantlebury is a scientist with experience in Agriculture, Biotechnology and soil and water management
