Committed to this one. He spun it clockwise then cut the video to fly all the way south of the equator to continue filming so it would spin counter clockwise. That's dedication.

As a former copilot I spun the tiller handle quite a lot, in the 747. Before that, I flew the 727 which, at least in Iberia airlines, only had a tiller in the captain's side.

The term "cockpit" became associated with a command center after a London theater called The Cockpit was built on the site of an old rooster-fighting cockpit. The theater was torn down in the 1600s, but the new apartment building that replaced it was still called The Cockpit.The word "cockpit" originated in the 1580s as a reference to the pit in the ground where cockfights were held. Cockfighting was a popular, barbaric "sport" that usually involved gambling, The term "cockpit" expanded to include any type of war zone. Fighter planes were essentially in an airborne cockpit because they were constantly engaged in combat with other aircraft.
