I've had a "PS2 TO HDMI" for over a year now and haven't faced any of these problems. The thing is: mine is a Bitfunx one, which has a better chip inside. People do say these non-labeled versions are inferior, indeed. Buy the Bitfunx version of this adapter. Mine haven't given me a single problem.

Ive had no issues with this same adapter and for someone that casually plays their PS2 here and there, it's a fine solution. Especially if you are using OPL with games stored on a drive or a NAS.

Its normal that this adapter only works with ps2 games. the gpu is directing the signal via component (5 cables, DIGITAL) to the output. dvd and ps1 output signal from the GPU is analog. so it cant work. its just that easy

most hdtvs dont support 240p resolutions over hdmi. Its more of a problem with your tv rather than a problem with the adapter itself. Theres some ps2 games that output at 240p so those wont work either unless you use gsm

I had one similar to this, in the manual it says to go to settings and change component video out setting to "Y Cb/Pb Cr/Pr". Try that, see if it works.

the issue with this adapter is that it doesn't support 240p which is what most ps1 games run in. if you were to use the homebrew app GSM to force the ps2 into a higher resolution before loading ps1 games, it'll work with the adapter

The issue is with the ps2, the phat models switches signals between RGB and Y Cb/Pb Cr/Pr, afaik this converter works fine on phat models after 30000 and all slims.

I use my ps2 for games. Use my ps3 for ps1/3 games and DVDs. This adapter was ridiculously cheap and has worked very well for over a year.

As long as it works for PS2 games im not bothered. I would never want to play a PS1 game or DVD on my PS2

I think these adapters don't do any upscaling, so PS1 games probably won't work on most displays since they're usually 240p, which isn't a standard HDMI signal. Not sure about DVDs, maybe it's a Macrovision issue

My Tv doesn't have a component output at all so what do you recommend for those that want to use a ps2 to play ps2 and ps1 games on a tv that only supports hdmi?

For the DVD movie it's a copyright thing. Because I loaded a burned DVD movie and it worked perfectly.

🤔Did you read the manual? It says that before you insert the HDMI adapter, you need to change the settings on your PS2 from RGB to "Y Cb/Pb Cr/PR" then power off ps2 wait 30 seconds to power on insert HDMI adapter then insert game disc 😊

PS2 games only, huh? I have an HDMI adapter just like that one! It's great for playing PS2 games on TVs that have no component input! But there is one PS2 game I have that can not be displayed through the adapter because of its 240p signal.... Disgaea: Hour of Darkness! So therefore, that's the only PS2 game that I am unable to play using that adapter.... Similar issue you had with your PS1 games, because they output at 240p by default.

if you have a ps2 thats modded, you can put some files that fix the ps1 games issue
