Just for people who are a bit confused if the front of the base of the ship doesn't add up or connect properly (if you are building it block by block) at 18:45 when Blue adds four blocks and a slab at the front, he later on removes those and brings the blocks down (basically takes them away completally) so they are how they were at the start--> at the dark oak level with just two spruce slabs at the front. This threw me off a bit but I soon got it :) I don't blame him for forgetting to mention it (or maybe I am just stupid and didn't notice) I just wanted to inform people who would get lost :D

Roughly 3 years after you put it out and this tutorial is still great, just built the ship in my custom harbor off the side of the big castle and cathedral from your other videos, love your stuff @bluenerd!!!!

I always find ships and boats the hardest - I definitely need to get into my comfort zone with them, thanks for this =D

Ever considered something like a matterial list? I think that could be a nice Touch

First off, just let me say that, of ALL the YouTube tutorials on buildings following a general genre (such as this "medieval" style), yours were the ONLY ones I have ever attempted to follow, one after the other, to create a harbour / docks / village within my own world, using your designs as a basic outline. I simply love the styles you use! I took one look at the finished product (the "timelapse"), and then decided I would try to build something similar, incorporating most (if not ALL) of the medieval styled buildings in your posted videos. So far, I am not disappointed - my version looks great (even though I used a different texture pack, and changed many of the materials for others which I felt were more appropriate for the biome in which I was building...). This ship is more of the same excellent building style, and I commend your work!!!
For this build, I have a couple of small suggestions: (a) For a build such as this, without any kind of "floor plan", you might consider directions as to WHERE you placed the "first block" of the build (so that, for example, a person trying to duplicate that build would know if they were starting on the port or starboard side, and would thus know if the FRONT of the ship was to the left or the right..., that kind of thing...). It would also be helpful for the builder to know just how far the "edge" of the ship would be from any dock it was "docked" beside, and how far the front "tip" of the ship would extend out past the starting block. I know you provided "overall" dimensions at the beginning of the vid., but I needed to start, and then re-start, the hull build portion of the video in order to align my ship with my docks (and to make sure that the front "tip" didn't extend out in to anything around my docks area. That is one LOOOONG tip!). Few people (I think) will build their docks "around" an existing ship, so any ship build must be built "to fit" within a context...
(b) As you are building each new portion of the build (where you do video "cut-out", to a new area of the ship on which you plan to work), you could simply state something like " here, we are facing the PORT side of the ship, so the FRONT of the ship is to my/our LEFT." I think more often than not, I had to stop the video and "rewind" to a point where I could actually see what side of the ship you / we were currently building on!
Just a couple of suggestions I thought might be useful for future builds of the same type; I don't mean to step on anyone's toes or anything! I really really LOVE the end result, and with a little time (and a wee bit of re-winding) I was able to get what I think was a very good approximation of what you have here, and I thank you for that! I could certainly never design/build a better-looking ship (in ANY style) on my own!
You have earned a dedicated subscriber, and a "like" for every build in that series I have watched thus far...thanks a bunch for this, and keep up the great work!

PS - Oh yeah, and please remember that (even though you do provide a "required materials" list at the very start of each tutorial vid., you probably should mention WHAT material you are using whenever it changes from one scene to the next; for example, what material is being used when you begin placing the masts (it isn't obvious, even if we have the same texture pack!). It's obviously a dark wood in that particular case, but which type, exactly? The ships DECK was another example (I think it was oak planks, in that case :-}

That was a super cool tutorial. Took me three actual days to complete it, and had an absolute blast.

Thanks for the countless hours of fun, Blue!

"Floor" "Pole for the sails" I think you mean "deck" and "mast" XD

Man, I love your designs. I've never subscribed to anyone on youtube until now! I'd love to see your design for the gate and walls.

This was an emotional rollercoaster but overall a great job! Never built something this big

Dude I don't know how you remember where to place blocks on such a complicated built so well done you! I'd be more than happy if something like this was split into a 2 part video. I did think this would look amazing in black with dark wood but I know that's not possible with black concrete not having slabs and stairs to work with.

Awesome as usual!!! ☺ Have you ever thought about doing something underwater? Like a village, mansion, castle, etc? (Unless you already have). Just thought it could be interesting if you were looking for something different 👍

At first I thought it wasn't going to be great from the inside. But when I looked, at it from the inside, its amazing. Great Job!!

I've been following a few of your builds such as the docks and castle series I know I'm late to the party, but I see a few people complaining that steps were lost or hard to follow. I play on console so a few of the ideas I either can't do or have to think of how else to place the items, such as some items on trapdoors can be pushed on it using a piston (special thanks to my 11 year old for telling me that one) so when there is an error I usually can correct it or modify it so it works for my build. It's to the point now that I mainly use your videos as a reference of what type of rooms and design them without following, so basically I follow your room sizes for the most part and go from there. Now with that said even though you may make some errors (as most of humans do) I appreciate your videos and my son and friends enjoy looking at the build which without you I wouldn't have even known where to start... thank you!

This was def the hardest one I have done in this series. I started with the castle series in a flat world and then saw what you did with the basement and decided to re do it. well in that process i found the docks series and restarted all over again and here I am! Thanks for showing us how to put this all together.

Great video! I would recommend that when you are doing the hull of the boat, just to go a bit slower.

I'm going to say what needs to be said to all those complaining about the tutorial clarity. IMO these videos should serve as a guide to help you build something similar to it, but not exactly like it. You will feel much more satisfaction from building something with your own tweaks to the final build.

Great, great build. I'm using a few of your medieval designs in a (protected) spawn build for an anarchy server. So thanks for your indirect help with that!
