New Batocera Lite Firmware OS For RG35XX Testing PSP, Dreamcast, N64

Hello World, how are you doing?

In today’s video we will be testing out a very early build of batocera Lite for the Anbernic RG35XX it’s definitely not perfect but man it shocked me just what can be done already with emulation so let’s take a look at what it can do!

Also there is a little tutorial of how to set it up at the end.

Don’t get me wrong there are a few bugs and around 15-20% of games work well so far.

I was thinking of getting my 3 Daughters RG35XX for Christmas, so they can Learn PICO-8 Programming and they Love "Dad's Retro Games"
I kept hearing BATOCERA was Slow, but I put it on everything I built the last 5 years, I'm excited this works! Well Done

For Dreamcast you can get much better performance on the hard to run games if you switch the resolution from 640x480 to 320x240 in the RA Quick Menu Options for the flycast core. Graphics won't look as pretty but for some games it's really worth it. The same trick helps DC games run decently on the Evercade VS with EverSD & Retroarch and that device has comparable specs.

Pretty cool to have my fav Linux retro gaming OS on that 👍
But I think theres only so much you can optimize it to do DC, PSP and N64, if the chip set isnt powerful then it isnt powerful enough. You can tweek settings as much as you can too, make sure you dont run shaders, use the lowest rendering resolution option for each system, and enable frameskip (even though I hate using that feature, if a game only runs with frameskip on a certain device usually Ill just leave it off then).

that slow down is unplayable to me. esp that garbled audio. cant imagine playing any game less than 60fps imo. its 2023 no more 30fps

Tinkering is half the fun of these retrohandhelds to see how much you can squeeze out. I just ordered the miyoo mini plus and will be happy using the stock firmware (hopefully onion OS will port to it soon).

I'd rather stick with my RK3326 devices for low-end Dreamcast, PSP, N64, and Sega Saturn Emulation.

I got the RG35xx last week and installed Garlic OS which makes it much better.

However, I wish that it was taller. With my big hands, it feels somewhat awkward to hold. I have concluded that handhelds, especially vertical ones, are hard to control accurately. I think that a horizontal portable game system would work much better.

where do you get the original stock sd roms (the ones that came with the device) after swapping sd's?

I have the plus and the n64 works stunningly but there’s one giant problem. THE DPAD CANT BE MAPPED TO JOYSTICK. Therefor the games are unplayable.
