i see where u r comng from. this ffelt mixed. i think von hove's vision was lost in translation. mattei was too likeable and placteka too happy. the paris version of von hove's was way darker and freaking amazing. only this anna and ottavio were better here than paris. but this was the dg the met orchestra ever did.
please compare the paris and this. i vote paris.

Why did Don giovani clothes always match o r duplicate leporrels clothes? Too many guns on stage at once. Mediocre uninteresting costumes, set ugly, but was used wonderfully in the last scene and it turned to worms by lighting. Singing was Devine . especially the women and tenor and father who was killed. Orchestra superior. And conductor great. This and “Carmen Are my two favorite operas. Joys to hear and see.

I think the presentation was not good, , and in sorry to see the outstanding performance by Mateo and others that could've made an incredible night of opera didn't just because of the presentation.
Sanfransisco opera did a terrible job as well last year to the point that no one stood up for the standing ovation! 😕
