What I Learned in California

I learned a lot when I was in CA, not just about the place but also about myself and the way I've been working at ETCG lately. I feel like I'm getting to a point of 'burn out' and I don't like that so I decided to take a step back from answering direct email questions as well as cutting back on the amount of time I spend answering questions on the forum. Don't get me wrong I want to help but I just feel my time would be better spent making better videos as those help more people in the long run, it's also the reason you started watching my show in the first place.

Thanks for your understanding.

Stay dirty

2:37 Yes Mustangs are everywhere and, at least in West Hollywood, is the BMW 3 series.

At least one does not have to deal with rust and all the fun associated with it as it applies to auto repair in L.A.!

I myself am from South Cali once you lived here for say 6 months you'll get use to the traffic times and try to avoid them. You'll be surprised what you'll find here... there are more older cars here being driven. I have seen a Dolorean in my city and i say that is a rare car you will never see on the street. But yes Eric continue making awesome videos! You are helping a lot of people! So Continue what you do best Eric!

It was not filmed at the diner in LA but rather the one in San Francisco. I got this info directly from the menu at the diner BTW.

I worked at 2 franchise shops (Midas and Canadian Tire). All they cared about was getting the job done as fast as possible. Now I work at a small independent shop and I love it.

Charging $ won't solve the problem of me not having the time to answer all the questions. The $ isn't the issue, it's time. There's a balance somewhere and I'm still working on where that is with ETCG. Thanks for the comment.

Also I visited San Francisco over the summer and saw some amazing cars there too. It was really cool to see cars from like the 70s and 80s that have long rusted away here in NY still in great shape. And I agree California is awesome to visit but I don't think I'd be able to live there

I'm only 17, and I own a diesel pickup truck. It's not cheap, but with the way I drive I can get 20+ miles per gallon, I do all I can to make it cheaper. Diesel is the field I wish to go into just because of the fact that it interests me a whole lot and the field is growing rapidly. I hope to maybe attend Rosedale's diesel branch. I agree 100% with what this video is about because a lot of my family is in the automotive field, and it's tough.

eric, you are the BEST information resource on the internet. I know other websites that charge almost $20 to get an answer to a question. dont be afraid to put a price on your information. even if its like 2 or 3 dollars per question. i know your goal is to do this for free, but you can only do so much. You are the absolute best resource for auto info, keep up the good work! Thanks, Eric!

Thank you. Hybrids or electrics are far superior for stop-n-go & short-hoppin'.

Ironically, LA is also the place where one can get on the freeway later at night and everyone is going 80-90, 25 mph over the speed limit. It doesn't really surprise me, but I know a lot of people out of the state go "75 is really fast!" so I thought I'd just mention it lol.

LA can get very hot in the summer and that Prius battery isn't going to last long with the AC going full blast.

PS:American Grafitti was filmed in LA but Lucas actually wrote it about the Cruise in Modesto where he grew up.

one reason the prius is so popular here in so cal was until a couple of years ago you could drive it in the carpool lane solo

I think you are making a very necessary and overall, beneficial change (shift). In fact, by focusing more of ur time on production, u r helping more people than by answering individual issues.

As I go through school and become a automotive tech I will do what I can in your forum to help out with the huge load. If your ever going to portland oregon, I would love to do a meet up; Meet you and other car guys/girls and just talk shop. You will always be my number one source for auto information.
