VAS 1.3GHz 10dBic Crosshair Range Test

Range testing the 10dBic crosshair over in Sequim, WA. Was hoping to push 10+ miles and after several attempts limited to roughly 8 miles due to degrading video testing on both 1258/1280MHz. UHF signal was solid at 75-90% RSSI on low power at 8 miles. Wish I still had my pepperbox for comparison as I had decent video in a previous 10 mile flight with a high noise floor.

Nice flight. Glad I got the chance to see your setup this last time home. Heading back out to sea again. See you guys again around middle of Aug.

I've just switched to 1.3Ghz from 2.4 and have a similar setup. Am hoping to get 10 miles soon.

If you have an antenna tracker, why not use a patch antenna?

Nice one ! I felt like being on your plane.... The airflow gives a perception of total immersion. i have the same doc setup which I am going to try on my rc truck. Was wondering what kinda range can I get... Any idea based on experience?

Try using ready made patch and inverted V antenna. I think you will be able to fly 10 miles no problems with 800mw
