I will never understand why people refuse to wear seatbelts despite it being an undeniable fact that they save lives.

I’ve heard first responders say they’ve seen wrecks where the car was completely destroyed and mangled but the person lived because of their seatbelt. And they’ve seen wrecks where it looked fairly minor but the person wasn’t alive anymore because they weren’t wearing one. Heartbreaking story. But please wear a seatbelt

I will never understand being upset with a police officer who couldn't do anything to help when a SEATBELT could have helped

That father needs to understand what fatally injured means

Imagine being more angry with a 1st responder than whoever was driving and not making sure the children where safely strapped in

love when people don't wear seatbelts and then when something happens it suddenly magically becomes the police's fault

Seatbelts cause injury, yes. I dont know about you but I'd rather be injured than dead. Wear your fucking seatbelt people.

My kids thought our car would not start if someone was sitting in a seat and didn't put on the seat belt, they also believed that the car would pull over, stop and turn off if a seat belt was taken off. It worked long enough for putting on the seatbelt to become an unconscious action as soon as they get in the car.

The father complaining when good paremting couldve helped them live. Ive been in a serious accident and I felt the air come off my airbag and the seatbelt stopped me immediately. The bruising was brutal and I was made to get multiple scans to make sure I didnt have internal injury, but ill a had was some serious bruising and a broken pinky. Wear your damn seatbelt

Ya know, there was a guy once, quite involved in American politics and big on campaigning for seatbelt laws to be relaxed. He died in a crash one day, the only one of the four people in the crash to die. I believe it was something along the lines of the car rolling or smth. Anyways, it was one of those crashes where seatbelts are most effective. Why was he the only one to die? He wasn’t wearing his seatbelt, the others were.

I remember a old news advert where basically they showed a couple men who had some really nasty bruises cased seatbelts in crashes. He then proceeded to say they couldn't show the images of people who weren't wearing seatbelts...

The father should be mad at the two adults for not putting the seatbelts on those babies

I get that he was grieving, but he really should be bemoaning the fact that he didn’t stress the importance of seatbelts safety instead of trying to blame whoever he could grasping at straws

That man's anger should not be directed at the first responder, but toward the adult who drove the car and allowed all those kids to be in the car without a seatbelt on... tragic story, truly

During my freshman year of high school we had an announcement, over the past weekend there were two recent graduates who had passed away in an accident while coming down for mother's day. Distraction was a suspected factor, but the big issue is that they didn't wear seat belts and first responders were positive the two would've survived if they had buckled up.
I never met them, but their names, Alex and Ariel, are burned into my mind fifteen years later.
During my senior year there was a massive pile up on our nearby freeway, one current and one former student were badly injured (wore seat belts, which did prevent deadly injuries). The current student was in a class of mine, when she came back almost a month later I heard words I never want to hear again. Our English teacher hugged her, turned back to all of us and said with tears "Please, don't make me bury another student". She was referencing Alex and Ariel, the first two student funerals she'd attended. I hope she hasn't been to another since.

I liked that the dad blamed the officer(s) rather than his kids not being in seabelts, smh

It's always hilarious knowing people have died due to their own actions, but when you take your kids with you? Well then you're garbage idk

Yup sadly the cop didn’t prepare his cure wounds spell that day. The dad should have been more concerned about the lack of seatbelt use than the fact a cop wasn’t able to do anything. Cops don’t have that type of training or supplies. There are some injuries that even trained professionals with proper supplies can’t fix. At that point what the cop can do is manage traffic around the crash, so nobody else gets injured or further injured, and let the injured know that they aren’t alone.

Every foreigner Uber passenger I pick up always either has no idea they're supposed to put it on, or actually argues with me about it.
