Reminds me of a man from New Jersey that married a cousin of mine back in the 1970s.
They met when she attended a college on the East coast (I don't recall which college).
The man had been born and raised in a city (I don't know which one, only that it was in New Jersey).
My cousin was born and raised in a tiny rural farm town in Kansas.

When they met, he actually asked her if her family had ever been attacked by Indians.
Of course, she thought that he was trying to make a bad joke.
Turned out that he was actually being serious!
Although an "educated" man, he truly thought that people living in the Great Plains states still were fighting Indians and getting around in covered wagons and buggies!

My ex-wife was/is one of those brown cow believers. She traded this career sailor in for an Army airborne type in Kuwait. I retired Navy on the GI Bill for 4 years in Western Australia to test the bounds of a military vasectomy.
