For second question where it is asking why we can't use timestamps instead surrogate key, so as per my understanding -
Timestamps are not sufficient enough because it often larger which is not ideal for updating any record or using in joins, also timestamps column varies with the time zone.
whereas surrogate key ensure the efficiency, stability and provides unique identification which helps in improving performance and simplify the handling of updates and joins.
