Okay, so I've watched him several times and I get the point that he and some of his colleagues grate on many of their colleagues for being agnostic or atheist evangelicals.  I know I've mentioned this a couple time, but I'll take another swing at it since some people have significant resistance.  Perhaps you've heard the term materialist.  Often this is...  it isn't really confused with hedonism, as they're similar in philosophy, so one would expect philosophers to understand the problem, whereas in common parlance it means something like greedy and the other pleasure seeker.  To them this is intended.

Materialists are deluded in thinking the only things they believe in are proven by science.

There, half or most and it should be at least many of you have been freed by a basic religious argument.

I figured I worked a proof of sorts of this out on the Zeitgeist channel, but here is part of the basic principal we're dealing with.

So, when I talk about, like, an AI making assumptions or accepting assumptions, this is a very real part of that.

Okay, so, "I think therefore I am" style...  most people...  I mean seriously, you're going to reinvent every wheel with your mind and expect to make progress in your own lifetime?  In some ways I'm a generalist, so maybe it's ironic that I should point this out, or it could be seen as basic practice, that this is taking on too much, and you're actually missing the trees in attempting to comprehend the forest.

Why can't a scientist respect all the Catholic trees in a science forest?  Aside from the trite reasons, like attempts to escape natural law and it consequence, or being the victim of some emotional (not restricted to only emotion) incident...  There a couple obvious reasons, typical cliche charges leveled against university 'folk' in general...  that fail a basic logical test...  Obviously this could be considered a test.
